The Portuguese PJ would be a feckin joke if this wasn't so serious. This does not look good for them at all, and it's high time this team was removed from duty.

It's now emerged that a young Portuguese girl went missing from the Praia de Luz area in 2004. Her mother and uncle were jailed for 16 years for her murder. It's now believed they were set up by the local PJ, and five officers have been accused of forcing confessions from them, torture, omission of evidence and falsifying documentation. They achieved a conviction for murder without a body ever being found.

One of those five is the number three in command in the Madeleine investigation!

i agree R2 its a fekking joke, i mean i now cant believe these leaks at all now! What with them saying a British owned yacht dumped her at sea, i mean how many people where involved in this, maybe Maddie was a Russian spy or somefink :dunno:

I would have thought if the parents were guilty they would have cracked by now especially if the leaks were close to the truth - their public image is stilll crap through!

A possible theory, the Mccanns somehow killed Maddie & hid her body, when they were off on their world tour with all eyes on them, their friends used the hire car to dispose of the body, if you recall I said at the time that to go off visiting the pope & embarking on a world tour when your child is missing is somewhat bizarre behaviour.

I don't think they were socialising were they, I think they were promoting the search for their daughter because the Police weren't publicising it like they do here.

Sorry Derek, but the suggestion that they were on some sort of jolly is plain ridiculous. What would you have done if no publicity was coming from the relevant authorities, just wait in silence? I don't think so...

What would I have done? I honestly can't say as thank god I've never been in that position having said that I've never abandoned my children, logic tells me that if I returned to my childrens bedroom & discovered one child missing I wouldn't leave the others there whilst going to raise the alarm.
Like everyone else I don't know who is responsible for the abduction/disappearance/murder of poor Madeleine & only have my opinions based on what has been released to public knowledge, If I were a gambler then my money would be on the Mother with the father & friends covering up & before saying it is ludicrous to expect the friends to cover for them there are over seven hundred prisoners in Wakefield prison most of whom have friends of some description who have lied, this is what makes catching paedophiles so difficult their chosen circle of friends.

Couldn't agree with you more Derek. Honour amongst thieves and all that. But that assumes they criminals in the first place.

I simply don't believe a party of ten doctor friends on holiday with their kids in a crowded holiday resort are all likely to be criminals, which they would have to have been to keep this all quiet.

Please do remember that the press will simply take:

1. Any facts released by the police.
2. Any info givn them by someone else who claims to know (the press regard this as factual).


They then see if the story they wish to print can fit around this and use:

3. Any speculation on events or possibilities that will support the story that they are writing.
4. Then look at if any of 1 or 2 can be "re-interpreted to support the chosen story line.




The thing is that when the story is written it will not be possible to actually tell which bits are hard facts, which are third party reported facts and which are speculation......................................

Remember that reporter research is about finding information that willl support the story that's already been decided upon ....... the next twist in the tail will have already been outlined/written with the press busy look for what they can use to support it .... although they'lll also be keeping a close eye on how the story is supporting circulation to decide how much space it's worth giving.....





IF you discuss/speculate based on what the press print then it's unlikely to be much more than just that .... specualtion.....

This report though will be Martin Brunt on Sky news - he's the one currently camped outside the door of the justice ministry in Portimao gathering what little real facts there are. He often also looks at paper speculation and exposes it for what it is.

He's one of the only reliable sources of info from Portugal.

Has anyone noticed certain uncanny things now coming out like what Kate actually said was 'madelines gone' and not 'theyve taken her' and gerry's explanation of the abductor was already in the apartment theory and the soiled nappies in the boot gag......now they have sent the sas team to go 'looking' for her now!

Its like they have been given advice on what to do based on public opinion and not to mention 'a source close to the family' crap i keep reading!

.....anyway who thinks that the latest development of sending the sas team in is just another pacifier from criticism about team mccann giving up looking for Maddie?

My guess is they know they cant use the funds for anything else so why not use it this way and send in private investigators on a wild goose chase following up on so called sightings in Morocco etc! What's happening with the PJ now?

Apart from Goncalo Amaral being chucked off the Maddie investigation the number two in command, Chief Inspector Tavaris Almeida, has now took himself off the case by asking for extended leave of absence.

Wtf is going on in the PJ?? This suggests there is some serious problems with this team of jerks. They are so bogged down they simply do not know what to do next to further this enquiry and they certainly can't be looking very hard for Madeleine if they are fragmenting like this.

It's about time this bunch of bungling incompetents handed the case over to the British police as they are clearly going nowhere with it. It's just astonishing that in modern day Europe they are allowed to let this case idle like this.

At least three others on this case are still under investigation for dodgy practices in the Leonor and Joana Cipriano case from 2004. Incredible.

As for the poor girl I'm left sadly feeling that the bungling has resulted in there being little real chance of actually determining what happened
