Nice to see you are al right matey. First of all I need all your contact nos, my old mobile endned up in a glass of wine, it got drunk and never worked again. So sorry I lost a lot of details of old friends.
My wheels still look fantastic.
My email pconstantopoulos@hotmail.com send me contact nos, skype, news, bla
Is misus ok? Are you still riding? Do you see the lads, I believe John (and Anya) are selling the bike, they keep in touch, do you see Mark/Lorna?

OK, back to the probs. I will try the thick wire to the starter motor.
HOW DO I GET THE CODES FROM THE ECM? If I need a dealer with a computer to plug somewhere I am stuffed......there is no proper dealership here, I ve been told. I need to take the bike to Athens, 320 klms away.

Pete,

You have an email mate.

Could the above be the problem on my bird?

Somebody, today, suggested fuel filter!!!!!!! Is that easy to replace?
Where is it?

You were right

Check all the main wires from battery through solenoid to starter, you'll need your tail piece off for that (ideal time to do loom fix. And don't forget to disconnect the battery when checking the main wire through.
Starter can be removed, but I suspect wires first. Main fuse also on starter solenoid unit. (front left behind tail piece).

You tick/ticking is the solenoid clicking, suggests not enough voltage to starter. It could even be the starter solenoid itself.

Silverfox, I did what you said, checked the wires, as a first thing, and bingo, no more slow engine turning.....it starts how it always did, quick, no clicking and it is wonderful. Thanks very much for your instructions.

Now I need to find whats wrong and its mis firing. Reg/rec might be the problem? Is it worth buying one and replacing? Is there a test I could do?

Regards

Sorry mate, been away for the weekend

The filter is IN SIDE the tank, a small fortune to buy and I have never EVER known one block or cause a problem

It could certainly be the pressure regulator or indeed one of the injectors
Did you check for fault codes Pete ?

I have not checked for codes for the simple reason that the FI warning light works like normal, it doesnt come on during the operation of the bike, at any revs or when you test it to see if there is anything stored.

Should I do it anyway? And whats your opinion about reg/rec?

Pressure regulator, where abouts is that?

Sorry, I am getting desperate now and to be quite honest, I have never had any probs with BBs for 12 years, none.

The ONLY thing a reg rec does is charge the battery.. It does not affect the running at all..

The p r is located on the end of the spray bar ( .. See where the big thick pipe coming from the tank to the left hand side of the injector set goes to.
It is bolted on to the end of a long ally bar. On the opposite end of that bar is a little goldy coloured metal dome thing.. THAT is the P. R. ..

Thank you John, very very good, I love drawings.....
I should imagine that I would have to buy a new one and replace it. (or can you do something with the old one?)
Do you sell them? How much with the postage? Is paypal ok?
Regards
Peter

p.s. Should I be buying anything else because it might not be the pr?

Fault finding (Codes)

I have carried out the procedure for the ECM codes. Shorted the ?black? 3 pin 2 wire connector and did everything to the letter.
The FI light flashed?? a long flash, a long flash, a long flash, a long flash and so on. No short flashes or anything else. According to what I ve been reading this means no 10 code??????

Oh, by the way, when the engine runs, smell of petrol quite evident and its using petrol like there is no 2moro?..Fuel Pressure Regulator John?

Well a code ten is barometric pressure sensor up the swanny, but that would only cause an issue if you go up a mountain !!

Do not think you live above 5000 metres Pete ?

I would say there are three possible things.

1) You have picked up a bit of shit in the petrol and it has jammed an injector partially open

2) The pressure regulator is stuffed

3) The ECU has gone awol

Number one is the easiest to at least try to cure
Stick a dose of injector cleaner made for petrol cars in the tank and go for a 50 + mile ride

2) Sorry pete, thought I had one but I lent the injector rail to someone and they seem to have returned it without the P R on it :-(

3) Well lets just hope it aint that !!

Hey Silverfox, you seem to know a lot of this stuff, do you know any online traders for a Pressure Regulator?

Cheers mate
