Mis-firing???

Sorry, and thanks !

I fitted mine with the thumb bit below the grip, as it seemed (is) easier to operate that way (on/off) and the small screw that stops it turning into the switch unit mounted top right when looking from the end of the bars..

CONFIRMATION

Just to confirm that I ve done 70 miles today with no problems, from slow to 150mph. Very smooth, no jerking or mis firing??.I am certain that this is it?.back to normal?.yeeeeeeees.

You can imagine how pleased I am after the problems you know about.

The bike is serviced though with new plugs, coils, battery, oil, filters ect ect.

One question to everybody that knows and SILVERFOX

When I got the wax unit out and cleaned it, the water that was lurking behind seemed to have antifreeze in it (bluish colour)??.the question is:
a) Should I drain it?.surely I don?t need antifreeze here in Greece. 18=20 degrees in winter
b) Do I need just water in there? Or Do I need something else?

Regards to all

You need to keep the premixed summer / winter coolant in there as it is also a rust inhibitor.

As Fireblade said, but its corrosion inhibitor (and rust) which is most important on ally engines, otherwise you'll possibly fur up the waterways, bits drop off and if you're lucky won't block a waterway, if unlucky will work like abrasive in the water pump. So Anti freeze concentrated, mixed 50/50 with distilled water not tap water. or commercial antifreeze which can be ready to use. Antifreeze also raises the cooling effectiveness in hot climates.

I change mine as per recommendations (think its 3 yearly).

The only thing I cannot understand is "where the hell did that gunge come from". Dont take me wrong, it was not much really but obviously enough to cause the problem.

Perhaps I should be changing the water antifreeze mix after 5 years!!!!!

Distilled water?????

p.s. I have done more miles on the bike and everything seems to be fantastic and as should be h1d1ng2

As promised earlier in this thread, please find a some pictures in our blogspot that will give you some idea of what we ve been doing here in the past nearly 4 years.

Remember that we actually built 2 houses and we sold one of them which really meant that our house came quite cheap. We thought why build one house when we could build two and sell one. All materials were cheaper as well as labour for obvious reasons.

So there you are and looking forward to doing some biking now

as I live in a hot climate I completely removed my wax unit and everything was fine, only difference was the bike didn't rev to 1500 revs on cold start

Wax Unit

as I live in a hot climate I completely removed my wax unit and everything was fine, only difference was the bike didn't rev to 1500 revs on cold start

Hey SILVERFOX

That is a point. Worst case senario where I live now is 20-22 degrees in winter. What do I need the wax unit for? But of course if we were to ride back to England or nothern Europe I would need it? Or not?

Also, the plugs that I ve taken out were in good condition, I cleaned them and have stored them. How many miles are they good for normally?

Lads remember, I have some spares now:

Fuel pressure regulator, new
Coils (both), second hand

Hi all

I have just completed another 2500 miles and the BB is going strong, had no more hassle and enjoying my biking.
The weather has kept nice, around the 20-24 degrees at the moment (in the sun) 18 degrees in the shade and its perfect for biking. I am hoping to carry on like this all winter. It rained today for the first time since September when it did rain for 3 days. Before that the last time it rained was in April.

I hope everyone is well and another thank you to all that helped me.@tu*

Cheers

Hi Pete

Glad to hear that the old Bird is still running well.
Are you still planning to do a bit of 'touring' in the summer?
We will be on Kerkya from early May until the end of September.

We've been going 2-3 times a years, for 14-17 days at a time.
This years we're saying sod it! Fly out at the beginning of May and return at the end of September.
Renting a house of some locals that we know, views over the main beach with Albania in the distance. :lick:

As I've said to Pete, looking for a step-thru with a plastic box on the back, (legal or illegal!) for trips to the other places along the coast/shopping.

Illegal???????

There is no "illegal" in greece. The lads here wear no crash helmets outside the police station, nobodys bothered. I have converted one guy now and he wears one all the time.

Ok Q, we ll have to keep in touch mate......

All the best
