So, next time some fuckwit with a fire on the end of a peice of paper spoils my meal while I'm trying to enjoy an evening out, presumably they won't mind if I pour my pint over their head.

Seriously though, and I think I have posted this before, a couple of years ago I went to the Jazz Cafe (Nice!) in Bath because I fancied an English breakfast. Said breakfast was delivered and I was enjoying myself eating and reading the paper when 4 women came in,sat down next to my table and all lit up. Being too much of a coward I said nothing as their fag smoke drifted all over my lovely brekkie and I suffered in silence. Anyway, they all ordered their food and when it was served every one of them stubbed out their fags so they could eat their food.
I decided to go but on the way out I very politely pointed out to them their behaviour and its obvious contradiction and was unceremoniusly told to "fuck off wibblerwibblerwibblerwibbler, you sad fucking arsehole".

Since then, I have not been particularly supportive of smokers rights.

Strange?

OK, You take a bath/shower, you use deoderant, shave maybe, a little bit of aftershave/perfume put on your best clothes want to impress, look clean, looking sharp, smell nice then you cover your self in a pungeant smell of burning smoke, you squint because your eyes try and hide from the smoke and to make things worse, you are effectively shortening your life and pay for it

Why should they ban it ffs, your proud to smell like an ashtray and it's your right to let people smell you walk in the room before you actually do.

hail hail freedom of choice

Smoking stinks, kills people and effects non smokers.

Been banned up here for a while and its brilliant, also ROI and its a peasure to go into pubs and resteraunts without having to eat shitty smoke.

We deliberately planned our holiday in Dorst this year ater 1st July so we can also go into the pubs, etc, like we do up here without killing ourselves.

If ya wanna smoke fine, just do it in a hermitacally sealed room with no ventilation and see how long you last !!!

I can confirm about Mick the knife not smoking any moreThe spuriuos accusations that he was puffing on a fag (not lumpy) at hunstanton on sunday are completely without basis, alledgedly

Surely it's about freedom of choice being eroded.

I don't smoke but really don't give a stuff if people do, if I don't like it, I walk away. I go to restaurants that don't allow smoking, I don't go into smoking restaurants and then complain - easy ain't it ?

All those that complain about smoking and their rights have valid points but our freedom was hard fought for.

the thing is i've worked in smoking pubs and its not nice to:
1/ come home stinking of smoke
2/wake up stinking of smoke cuz even tho u had a shower when u got in last nite there's still that lingering smell of smoke in your hair that takes more than one wash to get out (and all you smokers cant comment on this cuz you've fucked up you sense of smell so much smoking that you cant tell that you and the people you've polluted stink!!!)
3/cough up horrible tary mankyness (from the fumes that have been blown in your face when some inconsiderate drunken twat has just ordered whilst smoking) till then next time you have to go into work.
4/have your general health and wellbeing deteriorated by selfish uneducated morons who still cling to the oldfashioned ideals that smoking really isnt bad for you, because they're so addicted to this drug that they cant possibly see they truth that is right infront of their faces.

As for Alcohol yes i think an excess of alcohol is bad for you but it just doesnt enter the argument because if someone in the same room as me is drinking it doesnt affect my personal space like smoking does. Yes i do drink, but i dont drink often and when i do i dont drink to excess. I dont need the social and emotional crutches of cigarettes and alchohol to have a good time.

Before you all say it i am not some lefty tree hugging pc freak, i'm just a 21 year old student who has decided to open up my eyes to the obvious facts that this nation is getting more obese, liver disease, lung cancer and heart disease are soaring, and people are pretending that there isnt a problem. I'm not saying there arent other problems in the world but we've all got to start somewhere and this is an easy one.

so get a job in a non smoking place???

I've worked in pubs, clubs, hotels, cafes since I was 16 (yes, a flipping long time) mainly as part time jobs for extra cash, but have run pubs too. I had the choice to work there. Yes its stinky, but to be honest if you are working the bar you probably smell of beer as you usually get that on your clothes as well if its a busy place. I was working full time in pubs when Roy Castle died and that was blamed on secondry smoking. Lots of arguements about health abounded then - but still - you do have the choice not to work in that environment.

If you hate it that much then its time for a change.

sorry - me again!!

Sugar can be bad for you - causes horrid things to happen to your brain and chemical levels
Fat can be bad for you too - blocks up important bits of you

and to be honest - riding a motorcyle can be bad for you (especially if you believe what my mother says)

since some peeps can smoke 40 a day and live to 100, surely smoking is on the same level of 'can be' bad for you, not 'is' a death stick????

from another non smoking but bike riding bar maid!!!!!!!!!!! :k:k:k
