im not talkin about a nation of poofters, although you seem to have your fair share! im talkin about the smokin ban! remember the poll tax? when 95% of scots lay down like fat bastard labradors and just paid the fecker without a moan and waited for their bellies to be be rubbed, but when two years passed and the english toothless roadworker, brickies labourers, told the government to fuck off!!! the whole scenario was revamped?
do you reckon that in a months time your average englishman who works 60 hours mon-fri for his weekend in the social club and a few dozen pints and a pack of cigs is gonna be buttfucked by half a dozen government evian drinkers who's life revolves round marks and sparks deli counter and a copy of cherie blairs "yoga for beginners"!!

fitness freaks and y front wearers need not reply

I'm glad the smoking ban is coming into force. I'm a non-smoker, but used to smoke 20 a day and came home stinking of the damn things! I don't miss it and I don't see why I should be forced to start smoking again -passively - just so someone else can give themself cancer! :-:

hear hear anti-smokers are a complete load of pc jumped up sticky beak ill thought out sheep.

The man who did the tests in the 50's who came out and said that smoking is linked to cancer, redid the tests in the 80'/90's and concluded that he was wrong the first time around, there is no link, the world health did the tests and again could not find a def. link as did the yanks medical board and even our own. not one of them could find a 100% link. Yet as the world is ruled by money and goody feckin 2 shoes who have nothing better to do than to stick their unwanted fuckin nose into other peoples business, the results are brushed aside.

if the gov. was doing in for the general publics health then why aint the houses of parliment affected? prisons? hospitals!!? etc etc all of which will continue to have their own smoking rooms.

If a smoker dies through cancer and it is a direct link to the smoking that caused it then that person dies, but if a non smoker but heavy drinker drives his car into a crowd of people which is the most harmful??

Did you ever hear about the poor children who were battered by the chain smoking father?? no thought not

how about the battered wife?? hmmm nope

Fitness people go running in the mornings along side the traffic and all their fumes, real feckin clever people they are cause they all wear a mask dont they??

if as the gov. says that 20% of smokers will give up because of this who is going to pay the missing tax??? somebody will have to.

lunch time now so going for a smoke to pollute the already polluted air. (diesels fumes, farts, curries, perfume, and nine volter juice, polish, hairspray and all the other shit i have to breathe whilst trying to have a quiet smoke.)

Tobacco is shite. Sir Francis Drake's got a lot to answer for. A lot of peeps thought he was a bonzer bloke but I'm not so sure. I saw him once on Black Adder; came across as a bit of a twat.

Dont you worry Smix, they're coming for alcohol next......
or at the very least they are trying to talk up the dangers of even minimal amounts of alclohol so that they can whack up the tax on it to make up for the expected shortfall of revenues from tobacco. You read it here first!
And yes, politicians are a sickening bunch of hypocrites for exempting House of Commons bars from the ban. Remember this ban was brought in under health and safety legislation to protect staff from second hand smoke (case not yet proven) so are workers in the House of Commons less deserving of having their rights protected than other workers? Perhaps a human rights lawyer could have a field day here. Give it Cherie Blair to sue the arse of her husbands government.
Sorry, I do realise that the words "Tony Blair" and "government" are an oxymoron.

I know, he tried smoking it there too but gave up as it was to difficult to expel the smoke from his nose.

I hate 'authority' and their advice ...... simple.

I did triatholons, ran stupildy long distances and have the pins to prove my enjoyment of cycle racings.

When I fecked another disc in my lower back (3 of 4 gone) I was told to keep active ...... but don't run, swim, cycle and even think about cave (or normal) diving again.

I took up smoking to preserve my health.

I think you have every right to smoke. I also think that others have the right to NOT breathe secondhand smoke or have it permeate their hair and clothes. Smoke (or do whatever else you wish) as much as you wish provided you don't affect others.

if the gov. was doing in for the general publics health then why aint the houses of parliment affected? prisons? hospitals!!? etc etc all of which will continue to have their own smoking rooms.
Now there you're totally right- the explanation is this: hypocrisy plus pandering to prisoners. (Not sure about hospitals)

If a smoker dies through cancer and it is a direct link to the smoking that caused it then that person dies, but if a non smoker but heavy drinker drives his car into a crowd of people which is the most harmful??
So the existence of drink-drivers justifies smoking? I'm not quite following your logic there. I also note you haven't mentioned the effects of secondhand smoke although you've accepted the possibility of death through smoking.

Did you ever hear about the poor children who were battered by the chain smoking father??
how about the battered wife??
Leaving aside the fact that my cousins and aunt probably qualified before my uncle died of smoking, that argument is another red herring.

Fitness people go running in the mornings along side the traffic and all their fumes
I've heard some do treadmills in the gym, some use parks, some jog early (before traffic build-up) and some even live outside cities.

who is going to pay the missing tax??? somebody will have to.
Short-term, we all know they'll try for motorists, but consider this- all the money that would have been spent on cigarettes will now be spent on other things, most of which will attract VAT, booze duty, fuel duty, etc. Much of the tax shortfall will be recouped in this way.

I look forward to smoke-free pubs, a smoke-free canteen at work and smoke-free restaurants.
