you haven't said wheather you've known the fella since you were a kid or have only know him recently.
If you've known him all your life then unless there's something wrong with him I seriously doubt if he's sees you as a prospective partner, but more of a neice growing into a young woman.
Who wouldn't be protective of that.
known him just under a year. I didn't take to him instantly infact i was rather scared of him, he looks hard but is a real softie underneath well to me anyways.

Wolfie's right........

Dead on Wolfie, as a dad of two teenage girls I trust a few of my close mates and if this were to happen to me.........well I would not want to be responsible for what I would say or do to an ex mate.

Sorry, I can't see any way for you to take it further without killing your relationship with your Dad. Find another and move on, please.:k

I`m sorry I just can`t agree with that at all, my Dad accepted Andy with no qualms whatsoever, as did my Mum.
They know he make me depressed , pissed off, angry etc but most of all he makes me happy. What right have you got to dictate to your daughters who they see, you don`t own them. You can guide them but at the end of the day it is their choice. Would you really make your daughter choose between her man and you, whatever happened you would be considerably lower in her opinion.
Why can`t a younger woman be allowed to choose someone older, surely you should support them and be there to pick up the pieces if it all goes wrong, just as you would with a bloke of her own age.
(The you in this i not you personally but you as a generalisation ofDad`s as it were!!)

Protect or control ?? Fine line to walk isn't it.

I would hope that when my daughters are 16, I would have given them enough guidance to be able to make a reasonable judgement or ask me if they are not too sure. If not, then I would feel that I have let them down.

This thing about age, I think is complete rubbish, if the person is decent, then I wouldn't have a problem if my girls brought someone older home.

Would you like a single or a double room Sir ? All are en suite, with colour televisions & kettles, you can provide your own play station and games but you get free membership to the local health club too with oppotunties to learn a new skill or trade.

All paid for by the tax payer.

well whatever else this thread has sure stirred everyone into responded, well done bikerbaby!

Just look at the views and replies clocked up........

My tuppence worth.... think carefully and try to be very sure. There are many things you can't undo once their done or can change the whole future for you so have a really good honest chat with yourself as to why you think you feel the way you do. I have a feeling you're not exactly sure so you're asking for advice here. If that's the case it makes me think it's proly not the right thing for you right now.

Gypsy :t what am I going to do with you eh??

Wolfie, I can understand the need to protect your children, I have one of my own but like Osprey says there is a fine line between protect and control.
I would rather my son ended up with an older woman who treated him right, than one his own age who made him miserable and treated him badly.

This whole business of the bloke being at fault gets up my nose as well, women are perfectly capable of seducing men as well you know and it does after all take 2 to tango. Like I say, Andy and I found out who our real friends were when we got together, it`s just a shame people have to be so narrow minded.
It`s a personal choice but not one I think a parent has the right to make for their children.

Exactly.

If you do the job right by the time they are 16 they are mature enough to ask.

I hope that good parents would understand and they are the ones that should act in a mature manner as well, although it would seem highly unlikly judging by some of the responses on here.
