OO-Look! A PROPER Sports Tourer!

Still kickin' it!
Hmmm cant fully agree with that see'in as you never had a sorted un mate...
Honda produced the Blackbird 1996 to 2007 and the only modification introduced during that time was the change from carburetion to fuel injection. After two test rides I reckon that ?out of the box?, the 2009 Kawasaki ZZR 1400 out-performs the 1996 Blackbird in every way (as it should), apart from build quality. Try one and see what you think.

As I?ve said previously, a raised ride height was all I needed for commuting; socialising; track days and touring the UK and Europe on the Blackbird(s).

Sorted. :-0)

I?m replacing Silver with Silver; but there, the similarities end. Can?t wait! :yo:

Obviously....on both counts...I just lurrrve the little fluid reservoir plastic thingys on the bars...so well engineered ....and easily replaceable no doubt....same with the Jubilee clips......

Can?t wait! :yo:

I share in your excitement...enjoy.

I keep looking ( albeit gently) around for a replacement...(but usage wise I am wayyyyyyy behind you DA in terms of mileage and application....)....but then every time I take the Bird out I wonder what the fook can be better than this...she is still awesome and does everything for my limited skills..... 900 miles in two days around Wales last weekend and I was still grinning and shitting myself when I got home....I may well consider the same sort of bikes as you just have DA....but when I'm a lot older I think....

Fooks Sake you lot

It's a bleeding Cow-a-sackie

It'll rust

It'll have bits fall off

It'll depreciate quicker than an Audi TT

and the ZZR is very old technology that doesn't handle and doesn't corner well and doesn't seem very comfortable over long distances

and if you don't believe me Eric - bring it down to West Wales and I'll let you have a go on a Viffer 1200 that now returns 190 miles to a tank bimbling quickly along at 90-100mph - as well as leaving 2 x GTR14's eating dust

Yes - really

and the best bit?

Not a Butt flap to be seen

Come on down - it'll put hairs on ya chest!

Well? Sorry to hear that, Timmo. Personally, I don?t suffer from that sort of thing meself (and, really, M8 ? I wouldn?t be shoutin? about it on ?ere, even if I did! )

Anyway; ?ere?s something that might ?elp.

Stayin? a bit closer to ?ome might be a good idea, an? all - just while yer get the ?ang o? usin? ?em. :-:

THA-A-T?S it, Timmo (heh-heh), keep yer chin up an? keep smilin? lad.

I reckon that comin? out wi? yer little secret was one o? the bravest things I?ve ever seen on ?ere.

WELL DONE (an? please try ter stay UP-wind o? me if we ever find us-selves on the same bit o? tarmac, willya, fella?)

Cheers!

Is this "tank range" bollox (no offence D&D )being confused with "tank capacity" c.f the Birds fuel consumption?

The VFR's tank takes 4.9 gallons doesn't it....AND has the ability to run less cyclinders under low load...so does anyone KNOW how a tank full will do on a VFR 1200?..

...and this mileage will vary with the way it's ridden too wont it?

Can't remember now ( yes, really), what the mileage should be on a Bird....years ago I got about 200 miles...until Quiney and a few other buggers showed me the light...and now under certain "conditions" can get around 120 miles to a tankfull. It's all relative isn't it?

Must admit....

In Wales this weekend and a VFR1200 overtook me down Carmarthen way ( I was in the cage)...rider and piillion...the pillion looked hunched over and tight up to the rider...and not at all "comfortable" IMHO

...which reinforces my interpretation of the bike as a riders sports tourer where the woman/partner stays at fookin home out of the way.

If it really is a "tourer", it'll be interesting to see the "fully-laden two-up" figures. Remember, Honda wouldn't let the Comic thrash one around Spain, not so long ago. Why not? :dunno:

Go and flippin? ride one, Timmo ? it?s free (and if you prang the bugger you'll just make it look a bit less offensive). They really are a hoot to ride through the twisties ? and the ?roundabout-knee-downers? will probably love them, too. If you?re actually going to ride more than fifty miles at a stretch, though, you might need to take precautions against repetitive stress injuries, such as ?Vibration White Finger?:

Use of vibrating equipment and power tools is the primary cause of Vibration White Finger. Some of the main culprits are: pneumatic drills, jack hammers, sanders, concrete vibrators, chainsaws, compactors and VFR1200?s.

(By the way: you might want to issue a stronger denial on the ?incontinence? thing there, Tim. I wasn?t too convinced ? and you know how folk love to gossip on here? ;-0)) )

You still here Mr Caveat?

You might cover your eyes but you can still see that you want a Viffer really

Hey Tim, don't blame me for your fuel consumption!

Oh, and at 120 you are still not trying hard enough
