Removed the carbs from the Fazer to give them a good clean and fit the servicing kit. Spent a not insignificant amount of time putting them back in, only to find that I'd forgotten to attach the throttle cables. I'm too young to be going senile so it could only have been blind stupidity.

Removed the carbs again while swearing excessively and then went looking for one of the cats to kick.
When you say ‘not insignificant’ do you mean ‘significant’.

Derek made me ask that by the way.

Did it with a return spring on the James 150 gearbox.
Spent ages cleaning the faces so it wouldn't leak.
Put it all back together. Went to pick up the gear lever and there's the spring sitting beside it.
So, off with the cover and clean the faces put it all back together. Pick up the lever.
Oh look what's beside the lever:smile::smash2::smash2::smash2:
I mean there's stupid and really very stupid but that was just......

Then again I was only 18.

On one of my frequent foray's into gsxr engines (for tuning) I spent a day putting a hot and quite expensive engine together only to spot a barrel oil jet in the parts tub just after I had buttoned down the rocker cover :BangHead:
With no jet in there I wouldn't get the correct oil pressure which would result in a loud and expensive bang in a very short time, so off we go again ripping it all down again only to eventually find the jet just where is should be, followed by the realisation that I had rooted through another tub of spares for something else and this must have dropped out :BangHead: much swearing and another Cometic head gasket sorted it but not for a few days until i could face doing it all again
...................................................................

Mate building a 1260 gsx engine in his spare time at work, Falicon crank, balanced and peened rods, undercut gears decked and ported etc etc all of which cost thousands of pounds in parts alone never mind man hours , just as he buttoned it up another mate said "what are those bits in the box ?" (couple of washers and a gear selector)
My previously happy engine building mate went from zero to ballistic in 0.2 seconds flat and I moved swiftly away
A while later after peeling the engine builder off the ceiling the other mate admitted he had thrown the spare bits in the box for a laugh :meparto::meparto::meparto:

Today I have been trimming hedges, mowing grass, digging up weeds. My petrol driven multitool hedge trimmer decided to keep cutting out, mixed some more petrol & oil & filled it back up, worked like a dream.

We had an NC750X, I hated if and would avoid it at all costs. I was forced to use it when the Pan was in for a service and grew to like it after about 200 miles!!

Looked after the grandkids.

Knackered.

All is calm now…until about 5:30am…..

There needs to be a few new laws introduced concerning two and four year olds.

Feel your pain......4 year old grandson here today......managed to dodge most of the day on Blood Bike call outs so nanna has been in charge (poor kid). Daughter is under strict instructions to be here at 10 otherwise he'll be sat outside on his suitcase after haribos,Sunny Delight and blue smarties for breakfast:cool:

Yup, grandparents are permitted to bribe with goodies..what the parents don’t know won’t hurt them.

not sure what is going on here, they are normally causing carnage well before 6, not a peep from either of them yet….we are taking them out at 10, handing them back at 13.00 so there is hope…..

I think Kirstie Allsopp had the right idea….she went first class while her kids went with the unwashed.
