MMmmmm, could be the chickens are all coming home to roost now. Can never prejudge of course, but can have an opinion, and I think the parents know exactly what happened to their daughter.
Despite the reaction of the press, I think the Portuguese police have, because of the lack of any real substantive evidence, allowed these people to believe they were not suspects so that they would eventually contradict their own statements. I think they have tried to be too clever and have aroused a lot of suspicion as a result. In a phrase, "give them enough rope and they will hang themselves".
Within a week or so, one or both of them will be charged with either murder or manslaughter.

PS I would very much like to be wrong on this, and if the little girl appeared tomorrow then I would rejoice as much as anybody, but I believe we are well beyond that now.

Portuguese police are stressing that they are still not suspects and being interviewed as witnesses... according to Sky's man in PDL tonight.

I don't like this one little bit. Is anybody actually LOOKING for this little child?

It's all bullshit for me now, Gerry's Blog - have you read it?......how quickly they jogged up the frigging hill, I managed to get my blog updated by 1pm today, we ate some beautiful food that somebody had flown over from Glasgow, traveling to all corners of the globe............. opening another eBay shop.......... tell us about your missing daughter Gerry, what was her favourite food / drink / nursery rhyme etc.........we know nothing apart from her age and the fact that she has a distinctive right eye. Her appearance would take 1 minute to change with a pair of scissors, so the posters are useless if she HAS been abducted.........

I think the only reason that father (I use the word lightly) isn't banging down every door in the area looking for his little girl is because he knows exactly where she is.

We're all thinking of you Madeliene, and whatever the outcome you deserve better than a Mummy and Daddy who left you alone like they did.

I'm going to try to give up reading and listening to all the speculation now and pray for a miracle.

Well, I dunno Sam, but I guess, if I was in that heartbreaking situation, then some attempt at trying to live somewhat normally, for at least part of the day, would have to be a priority otherwise the stress of it all would have you in the nuthouse in no time :dunno:

I understand your point Rob. They began questioning Kate as I was leaving work and are still questioning her now - that's five hours. Do you think they'll name her as a suspect, then cross examine Gerry tomorrow?

EDIT: make that EIGHT hours!

11 hours of questioning - she will become an official suspect.

Of course, Portuguese police insist she was interviewed for this amount of time as a witness........I imagine that she'll now request arguido status, because that gives her more rights than as a witness. However, I don't think the Portuguese police are stupid - interviewing her as a witness has allowed them to extract as much information from her as they can, because as a witness she cannot refuse to collaborate with the police.

The moment she is constituted as arguido, as the defendant, then she can not only refuse to answer questions because they can incriminate her, but also she has the right to be accompanied in the questionings by her own solicitor.

Of course once 'arguido' then an arrest is the next step provided they've got the evidence...................

Right story right time i think is all it is and the circumstances portrayed to us captured our hearts despite it being ever so slightly stupid to leave 3 kids of that age on their own!

If it turns out they have had something to do with it as an accident maybe then i bet they would have been better off coming clean straight away as if they are convicted they will surely go down for a lot longer after all this! Oh what a mess either way and hope Maddie is in a better place.....poor little thing!

Police offer Kate McCann a deal..... confess and we'll guarantee you no more than two years!

What a farce! I reckon somebody in the police has had their arse kicked and now they are really bungling.

The suggestions are getting sillier . How does one "accidentally" kill your own child? What sort of effort would be needed to kill a child, even accidentally? Assuming she did accidentally kill her daughter why is it automatically assumed that she and her husband, plus their holiday friends, would then hide or dispose of the body and initiate a cover up? If you did accidentally hurt your child wouldn't the first reaction be to get help? Call for ambulance, ie?

What would make rational, responsible, caring doctors suddenly, without notice, embroil themselves in something that would jeopardise everything they have in life and see themselves jailed for years?

If somebody, somebody intelligent and articulate like doctors, wanted to kill one of their own children there would be many ways to do it.... and to do it when on holiday with friends, in your own apartment with your friends nearby, would not be the way to do it. It's just absurd and doesn't make sense.

Nobody seems to be considering why they would want to kill one of their own children in the first place. Why would they? What could've gone so catastrophically wrong in an otherwise idyllic family unit to drive a parent to murder one of their kids. Yes, there's been psycho's, drug addicts, satanists and other weirdo's do it - but these two?

Nah! None of makes any sense.

Strip away all the newspaper hype and accusations and nothing makes sense about this case.

I'm still convinced the McCanns have nothing to do with this. They simply wouldn't be so stupid to do it like this - any of it.

all this just seems damn odd to me, as said above, it doesn't make any sense, :dunno: maybe Maddie died accidentally by her parents hand, maybe someone took her, what ever the case, the best analogy* of the Police I've heard recently is like the seventy's cops in "life on Mars" good intentions, but no idea!!

*dunno if thats the correct word,
