- knowing that there wouldn't be the normal long queue in the Post Office when I posted a parcel as it was piddling down

- its piddling down
- being served so quickly in the Post Office I didn't get a chance to persuade myself that I deserved to pick up a Yorkie Bar as a treat

If it's an original M1 '1972' era, as it was originally named then you have lost a small fortune as it is very rare and a collectors piece. Leica forced Olympus to change the M1 model name as it was too close to their M series flagship rangefinder cameras.
Hence the name change to OM-1.
