Just read all these post and a lot of good points made.and my veiw is.
1 Rantings and all that should be left to the coffee shop.
2 Serious stuff to what ever section it goes in.
3 It should be open to every one as we all ride bikes. obviously Blackbird owners being the greater percentage.... will in the end have more to say.
Cheers Paul

Looks like this one could rival the Avons threads!!

I've not been on the forum for a while either. Over the last few months it's just turned into a forum where every post seems to end in a slanging match, pisstaking, thread hijack, be aimed at settling personal scores, or just 'fishing' for a wind up. Personally I can do without it, and have done. Met some great people on this site, and will continue to met up with them, but at the moment I don't get any enjoyment out of using it, so I haven't.

Can't please all of the people all of the time I suppose.

Don't mind pisstaking and sarcastic humour, but a lot of what has gone on over the last couple of months seems to have lost the 'humour' part. A lot comes over as settling personal scores. Personally I feel that if you post something that one or two people don't quite like you get totally slagged off - no matter where the thread is put, or what it's about.

That's my say on it - happy riding and see some of you at the rideouts

Ever wondered what happened to all those members out there that you know still own Blackbirds but never seem to post? Well they have all lost interest, and spend there time elsewhere reading things that are actually interesting!!!

That's a bit assumptive isn't it?? Or have all these people reported back to you.....??

Bloody hell, this thread was growing faster than I could read it, and I'm quite fast (at reading, boys).

I got on here as 'the other half' of a Bird rider, and enjoy it immensely. Everyone's entitled to their own opinion, they're even entitled to air it publicly, so no-one should take offence if it doesn't agree with their own opinion. Personally, I read what I want to read and don't read what I don't like/have no interest in.

Me, I'm staying. Don't own a Bird, didn't have a licence until a few weeks ago, but figured out very quickly that most of what goes on here is either pisstaking or seriously helpful. Nothing wrong there.

And if anyone makes me go, I'm taking my boots with me, so there!!! Just won't happen though, will it.

Can't be arsed reading all the entries, most of it will most likely be banter, abuse, good info, or a wind up.

Did we finally decide what colour was fastest? If we should hang, draw, and quarter all none posters ? If Avon or Brimstones are best? Were the last polls fixed? Are we still talking to anyone who has any other make of bike?

Firstly... Wolfie, Your post was the best reply I have seen to any 'heated' discussion I have read on ANY forum. Honest and from the heart.

Second. Sometimes, I do find that a serious thread is hijacked, and it annoys me to think that someone may not treat a serious question to a reply that it deserves. I do feel that outside the coffee shop this should not happen.
But in the coffee shop...........

Go for it !

If something is serious... why not put ~ serious~ in the top line ?

Just stop bloody arguing life's too short..

Or perhaps in your opinion Roxxo, only posts and people who own ride and live Birds should have any input or attend any function ? ( To be fair there are many folk who fall firmly into that catagory, myself included ! :p
I didn't say it was my opinion. I was merely asking the question.

This forum is for people who:-

a] Own a bird
b] Ride a bird
c] Aspire to either a] or b]
d] Have an interest in either a] or b]
e] Have an interest in motorcycling and find the forum entertaining or informative
f] Have an interest in biking and would like to take part in this community
Part of the Admin team firmly think that this site is for Bird riders.
While another part clearly doesn't.

What is the policy?
Is there a policy?
Is the cabinet split?

So if someones wife has a CBR600 ( or like BB owned a kwak ) we should say sorry, you cannot attend unless on a Bird ?
Wow, that would be a great way to win friends and influence folk that would ! LOL !

Winning friends, influencing folk, friendship, community, Bird riders only, not bothering about the membership.

politics.......i feckin hate politics :bang: :bang:
i thought part of biking, and being a member(sponsor or not)of this forum was to escape politics and all the crap that drag us down.personally,i like things the way they are....for the most,as has been said in previous posts, threads which require help or a serious answer be posted in the help or other forums, but coffee shop for general banter, piss taking etc etc....but i also notice that more peeps tend to browse coffee shop, which perhaps is why peeps start threads of a serious note on there..with a view to more being able to help :dunno: but should this be the case, then make this obvious by heading it as so...then hopefully the replies will echo that  i also am a member of other forums....biking,fishing,and the general banter is almost non-existant and because of this, seem to be going stale..where as you used to get say,15-20 peeps on these forums, you now would be lucky to see perhaps 5-10 on a good day after all,how much can be said about one bike, car, fishing rod (cue gypsy)etc etc

well, thats my 10 bob's worth, feck, does that mean i've gone all political :bang: :bang:

Here's the Botton Line

Both JAWS and myself have read/replied to most of the posts on this thread.

What has become clear is that there needs to be an agreement on moderation on the forum with clear and concise "standards of performance" - perhaps well overdue

OK - no probs

JAWS and myself have organised a meeting early next week to thrash out the best way forward.

Items on the Agenda for discussion include :-

a] Should the forum be moderated?
b] What should be the rules be?
c] Should "admin" be more active in deleting posts/threads that break the rules - without recrimination

We've got a lot to discuss and agree - watch this space

for what its worth

Just an opinion - but doesn't this country have enough jobsworths, politically correct nannying etc without bringing it onto this forum - if you don't like the thread then don't read it or join in - a bit like the telly, if you don't like the programme then turn over or switch off - don't expect your preferences to be imposed on everyone else - most people are quite grown up enough to realise that this is an adult site and treat the posts etc accordingly.

WELL...........

I`ve sat my turn on the side lines to let you BIRD men-(and Ladies) have your say...but from where i`m standing, the forum has been a great place to meet and greet and form strong lasting freindships....and still have fun with my number one hobby of motorcycling.
The folks are and have been the forum and will continue to be so.....some characters are stronger than others ...but we should all be free to speak our minds.
If the forum is not to your liking...don`t visit....quite simple really...you must like some of it to keep coming back and have a complaining session now and again...BUT before you jump in at the deep end..it really is "horses for courses".....I will say that some posts recently have been a tad too personal for my liking, but..we`re all big boys and girls...live life and get on with it.
If as some hint..that it should be bike specific..well so be it..I personally think that the forum will fail and be a shadow of its self if that were to happen..for me , it`s the diverse characters that make the site interesting strong and fun.

There..thats my 10 pence worth....
live ..love and enjoy.....we`re only here once and it ain't a dress rehersal...

Of course this is a wonderful site with wonderful members.
It is an adult site, we are all entitled to our opinions and I believe that moderation or censorship is not required unless somebody willfully upsets another member with personal attacks or engages in racial abuse.

The site has changed over the years, I think for the better, but let's not forget that it started as a forum for those interested in Blackbirds.
By their own admission we have members who have never had and never want to have a Blackbird and that's OK by me, but I couldn't understand why anyone who is not interested in the Bird would want to join a BIRD club. Now I know, they enjoy the banter, friendliness and rideouts. No probs.

Nobody should take offence or feel persecuted by my questions. Likewise nobody should be frightened of posting questions.

The title page of this website does state that this site is the largest and fastest growing Blackbird Owners website.
Perhaps it should be made clearer that you don't have to have a Bird to join in with the fun.
Clearly the Admin Team have different views on what this site is about.
What about asking us, the members what we think. Put it to the vote.
Let's have a poll.

better still lets NOT have a poll,!! people have expressed their views, what do we need to have a poll for?? this thread has already helped aire the opinions of "most" regular forum users, so we already know who thinks what, :dunno: no point in going any further!!
