If that's the case John, a very good example. Shows how many so called converts, are miss-using Islam. Look the point that I'm really trying to illustrate, is that we have problems in both our houses (Christians, Muslims), but for that we can't blame the wider population of the respective communities. Saying that a community hasn't spoken out against those ills, is miss leading and wrong. If someone wishes is to give excuse for their hate for that group, then they become no better than the terrorist, they seek to condemn.

You used the victims of the leicester fire as an example of christians attacking muslim a few post back, which doesnt appear to be the case. You're saying above above that christians and muslims both have problems. Without going back centuries, can you enlighten me to the problems christians currently have that drive them to publically behead people and carry out armed attacks on unarmed people?

I hope you're not saying that killing is ok, as long as it's not done publicly.
I gave examples of NI, where Christians were killing Christians, some say it's not over. Being a glass half full person, I say it's infinitely better than it was. Keeping it within that last 100 years you'll find that when it comes to the league table of religions killing totals, the Christians are winning by a country mile.

Couple of interesting quotes:

There are none so blind as those that will not see

There are those who are blinded to the truth by the glorious light

Remove religion from the equation and the world would be over populated even worse than it is already

There are more people world wide and over all known history killed in the name of one religion or other than for any other reason

My personal views are:

1) It seems there are no religions that actively promote peace .. Only religions that say they do whilst killing and maiming

And ( sorry Davey )

2) Religion is bloody boring.. Those that believe in it in one form or other are obsessive and will never accept any argument bar their own views. They always go round and round in circles trying to get a point across that to be honest, very very few people give a toss about

Whilst these discussions started by being vaguely interesting and emotive I am sorry to say the constant diatribe and lopsided views expressed have reached the point where they are ( quite frankly ) a bit pathetic in their repetitive nature

As we are, once again, going round in circles I am gonna take a fairly unprecedented step and close this thread to new posts.
I will not do it immediately but give folk a chance to make any last statements re their position.

Hmmmm
Just had a thought

I think I will start a separate section devoted to religion only
Folk can then use that area and that area only for this stuff

And also....

Might do another section for hobbies
loads of peeps on here do pretty interesting stuff

Couple of interesting quotes:

There are none so blind as those that will not see. Very true.

There are those who are blinded to the truth by the glorious light What is the truth?

Remove religion from the equation and the world would be over populated even worse than it is already. We are perfectly capable of reducing our numbers with greed.

There are more people world wide and over all known history killed in the name of one religion or other than for any other reason. Disease kills many times more than war.

My personal views are:

1) It seems there are no religions that actively promote peace .. Only religions that say they do whilst killing and maiming. Buddhists come close.

And ( sorry Davey )

2) Religion is bloody boring.. Those that believe in it in one form or other are obsessive and will never accept any argument bar their own views. They always go round and round in circles trying to get a point across that to be honest, very very few people give a toss about. I love history and you can't study it without studying religion.

Just a few thoughts.

I thought that it would be better to let a thread die on its own, but you're the boss so you call the shots.
Ironically I'm an agnostic, so have no beef for any one religion. My beef is tolerance, which I will confront whenever I see or hear it. I've been like that since childhood, irritated my parents, teachers and the school bullies. I dislike it in myself when it rears it's head and it does sometimes.
The terrorist set out to archive this, and some of the post on here have fallen into their trap. I opened the thread on the outrage of terrorist in paris, the thread quickly got around to, being over run by Muslims and how terrible these people are. 1.6 billion people defined by 4 shitheads! I think not. That's why I'm defending Islam.

Sadly Davey, you will never let one of these threads die.
You will keep replying trying it seems, to have the last word..
So unless every other member lets it die it does not happen
Actually, even when that has happened in another thread, you then posted again just to revive it mate

An agnostic is proly worse than worse ! You will argue for all sides interminably as you believe there is a god just do not know which one is real !!

I have carefully read this thread again and it was your own posts and ( proly albeit unintentional ) manipulation that turned it the way it ended up

Expect Camoron to be along shortly to inform us that it has nothing to with Islam and that Islam is the religion of peace. BBC will follow with reports telling us that Muslims are actually the victims here as there might be a "backlash" of people saying nasty things about them and that will hurt their sensitivities.

That was the first post John, the last word. Thanks

John please don't close any threads.

The recent trouble has been about freedom of speech and expression. Don't start gagging stuff on here. Move it to a new forum area by all means but my personal feeling is that as soon as moderators such dabbling in what can and can't be said then it becomes a slippery slope.

John is right. This thread had run its course. Those of us who have strong feelings about the subject have had our say. There is no point continuing to go over the same ground. Let it go, everyone.

With thought, I'd have to say given the what bought about the thread about, closing it wouldn't be a great idea. However there's becoming a bit of a trend that I am worried about, but "I agree with Barrie," (I've had the same problem with Pow Lo) in so far as I feel that most of us with strong feelings on the subject have had our say. So maybe it's time to either move back to the original subject or let it die a natural death.
