Ultra seal you must be mad

Dave....I've used it in the 'Bird, CBR1000, CBR600, and now in the Pan. I honestly don't find a problem with it !!!! For the first half a mile after putting it in the tyres it does shake the bike about a bit.....until the centrifugal force has spread it over the inside of the tyre. After that it's fine.

But....you've seen me ride and I do tend to be a little 'sedate'. Perhaps if I was a quicker rider I may get problems.

Anyhow.....there was a special offer on Ultraseal. Buy a bottle, get a free pair of slippers and Sherlock Holmes pipe !!!!!! Couldn't resist it, could I ??? :} :}

He He He, what a great thread :p

Some very passionate input, and nowt wrong with that :neenaw:

however.....
is the obvious question to all that feel uncomfy in the wet.
I'd also ask it twice. What pressures do you run on the road? and What pressures do/would you run on a track? The lower pressures on a track are to give better cornering grip and somewhere between there and the max is a setting that feels right for the individual.

Here's a wee read on pressures.
just another perspective

Good link m8 on an issue that peeps quite often won't consider budging on.

Rhino, I for one am taking this thread very seriously, and if you Blu or Stan are un happy enough to fit a different pair of tyres, then I will personally send in a courier at my expense to pick up your old tyres. I would like to test them myself on a standard Blackbird in the wet. Then I will send them to Avon for compound analysis.
This will not be an "I told you so exercise", if there is a problem we need to find it. I have already contacted Avon and will keep you abreast of any developments.

Just a note to answer some of your questions above:
Once again the compound is not hard normally, this can be tested by something as simple as the old thumb nail test.

The reason for this tyres ability to put up with heavy duty touring without losing it's shape is down to two things: As tyres go these are fairly revolutionary. The variable belt density cords help the tyre maintain a larger contact patch with the road, this helps the tyre run cooler and spreads the load over a wider area the other thing is the actual tread pattern, they don't look like a tractor tyre for nothing. To obtain the angle of tread for best grip and longevity was done over months of testing, by cutting fan shapes in the sides of slick tyres and monitoring the wear rate of all the different tread angles until the ultimate one was found.

pete,as mentioned in my first post of this thread,i did have a couple of minor twitches but could have been through road conditions etc.as blumeeni mentioned, these were at very moderate lean angles with very restrictive throttle use coming out of them[bends].on one particular hairpin where i experienced one,a mate of mine and pete's on an hayabusa suffered an even bigger slide and he's running BT56's,which apparently are the standard fitment out of the factory, now does that mean that both sets of tyres are crap :dunno: or that myself and our mate are crap.....well possibly,or that on that particular bend the road surface was shite....probably.i will personally reserve judgement until i have been out on them in wet weather a few more times,as to be honest, with my limited experience riding, will leave it to those
with far more experience to sort it out.

Ya see, all through this debate you've had more than your share of things to say and none of it relates to the fact.
Your good at pointing out my tender years but you seem to forget the topic.

As for "Get a life", i have one,,, maybe you'd like to coach me on it and tell me where i've gone wrong. 8l1nd

Watch my lips

YOU ARE MISSING THE POINT

How can you tell it's the tyres in the wet WHEN you alter your rear suspension every 5 minutes?

Easy Question - or shall I type it in joined up writing so you can understand?
