Getting back to JAWS original post, ask any traffic police how to catch villains and they will tell you that faulty/illegal vehicles tend to contain faulty/illegal passengers. Frequently drug related. That's why they get stopped, not because they have a brake bulb out.

Another point i would make is that as someone living near Brands the antics of the small minority in their dayglo leathers in the roads around Brands on a race weekend need to be seen to be believed. Anything that shows police presence gets my vote, and if it is small number plates or race cans then it works for me.

Anyway, what is the point of a small number plate other than to make it harder to read of course? And race cans - to unleash another 2% of performance that the ridng god
wanka%20smilie.gif
will of course be able to exploit on the road, bollox to everyone else that has to listen to it.

Bit of support for plod wouldn't go amiss when you see what they have to put up with every time they go on duty.

Did a Bikesafe day with a local Police force, which was great by the way.At the beginning, during the classroom part of the course, the officer running it asked us "Be honest, how many of you were going to put your standard cans back on your bikes before coming here today?" A few of us laughed at this but were surprised when he went on to say that we needn't have bothered. In fact,he said that they(the instructors) weren't interested in what cans you had fitted or small number plates(provided that they can be read from the required distance, which is fair enough) as these things didn't affect the safety of the bike. I am mindful of the fact that these instructors were all bikers obviously but they had also spent varying amounts of time during their careers in traffic cars also.
They just use common sense which i'm sure can be said of the majority of Police in this country.
Let's face it,if you ride like a prat you risk getting pulled anyway(and you know it) so why complain when you do?
Common sense it seems isn't as common as we take for granted.

shoot scuffers ......

if you break the law, you should get shot in the head .......... that would slim down the scuffers ..... small number plates is just the start to a life of scuffer-dom, next thing is you are doing coke & robbing grandmothers, scuffers do as scuffers do ..... always will ......... I've no time for it ......... :wank:

So hang on..
These guys do what is blatantly the correct thing and are using their noodles..

Yet in a previous post it seems that it is the correct thing for officers to 'just follow orders'

Now where is that cake that was eaten ? Oh,, there it is,,, seems you CAN eat it and have it too c7u8

Jaws, I think for someone who accuses others of taking a point and then stretching it you've done the same with your last post.

There is a difference between exercise of discretion in individual circumstances and the need to follow orders in a disciplined service. When you've got petrol bombs and bricks being thrown at you and you're working in teams there is a need to get on with what you're told. I think the point around being disciplined was in regard to not being able to opt out of carrying out a public duty such as the prison dispute. Not small number plates. Frankly they're hardly in the same league are they?

Anyway, at the end of the day, if you read all the posts on here and consider that this is a cross section of society it rather proves what I have said all along, you can't pleas all of the people all of the time. I've given up trying. I just try to do what I think's right and I sleep very soundly!
