had an indicated 190 with plenty left but i was running out of road. before the i changed the exhaust ,air filter ,ignition advancer and had the dyno jet kit fitted it didnt pull above 170 at all but know it keeps pulling all the way to the bloodline was going to try to get it flat out in 6 gear last weekend in france but in that wind i had no chance it was to risky but i feel sure it will go off the clock no problem i cant wait to try it went the weather and road are good and im back in france over here its not worth trying( old bill tend to have a sense of humour bypass about these things):xm

France 155mph on the clock - single lane road, drizzle and late for ferry.

UK nah the Crown Persecution Service might be watching.
Pushbike 59mph, used to race the things and still have the gravel and pins in my jaw/face to prove it. Best 'momento' is a written threat of prosecution for 'furious cycling', somehow the traffic cop didn't like being overtaken by a push bike sh1tehppns

Fastest I've seen on my 'bird is an indicated 190mph, 170mph with a pillion.

Naturally it's a fast blue one !

Like Punchy, 165 at the Nurburgring on my Ace and on my ZX9R.

As for my old POS bird, had it flat out on the A1 between Hamburg and Lubeck just the once, two-up. Couldn't see the speed cos of the vibration, but it didn't feel as quick as the ZX at the Ring.

I had a speedo reading of 170 (on a runway) and still climbing, but I don't know how high it got cos I didn't dare look at it after that, I was focusing on the green blurrs in the distance (cones). Also it wasn't very comfy cos my lid was pushing into my face.

Pain is so close to pleasure!!!
Oh and a reading of 140 on motorway, which happens very occasionally, mostly I stick to 120.
Saw a bike on tv (police camera action) doing 135, police gave up in the end as the chase was 'Too Dangerous'. Hehehehhehe. wimps.
Rock on Bikers.

Have you found the changes above have helped acceleration in all gears as well as top speed? Just wonder as my bike has a aftermarket exhaust, and if fitting a dyno jet kit would make much difference? Thanks!!!!:yo:

BIRD speed

I went on a track day yesterday (28.5.06.) at Snetterton, on the Blackbird.
I know my bike still has a very tight engine as it`s only done 1500 miles, but I only managed 148 on the back straight and believe me it still has plenty left to give, as well as 2 gears! As a foot note if anyone is thinking of taking their Bird on a track day alter the gearing to get the best out of her. It also will help to stop the GSXRs weeweeing on you out of the bends. bl4hbl4h

Congrats on your TD, but you can gear a barge whichever way you want, it'll never be a match for a Gixer in the right hands on a track; believe me.

You can't beat the laws of physics. Take a bird and a gixer 1000 to the track, and the gixer will circle faster with the same, good rider on each.

Put them in a race meeting, and the bird is going to have it's ass handed to it because the lighter, better suspended, better braked and more powerful gixxer 1000 will be able to tolerate running off-line better. Rider talent differences excluded of course.

By the way, talking to KennethB yesterday he was putting in consistent high-160mph runs on his stock carbed 'bird, with a best of 170mph - his speedo was into the 190's!

So, what happens if the bird is as light, considerably better suspended, considerably better braked and considerably more powerful than the gixxer?
Just a thought, as not all bikes are the same, rider differences apart...
But you are right, stock Bird vs stock Gixxer, don't think the Bird would see which way it went, but would be so comfortable riding round looking for it...

Off to KFC now, or perhaps round to Maccy D's for some Chicken McDog Bollocks

Busa Turbo

By the way Pete, I forgot to say nice Busa.... love the way the gauges fit, I really appreciate the work that has gone into it...
Did you get to the street challenge this year? I hope I will be around for next years one, or at least to see what mine can really do.
The guys at 200mph.org have been very helpful to me too, they know their stuff....
Anyway, cracking job Gromit...!

I was talking stock bikes of course :)

I know a guy who had a hayabusa that weighed 160 something kilos and put out almost 230HP. Very little could keep with it on the track :D

Thank mate!
It was 9 months in the making, and a very sttep learning curve for me. This year's streetbike challenge is in 5 weeks or so. I doubt my bike will make it since I sold my turbo setup from last year and I'm still in the process of building a much more powerful bike. I'm hoping for in the region of 450HP.
