Coming out of work one day, stalled the bike and promptly dropped it, was so pi**ed off with myself i didn't think and just went screaming off up the road, when i looked at the speedo it was an indecated 170, backed off a bit quick when i realised.

been upto 140 2 up with my nephew, only slowed down incase of unwanted attention, but i was safe that day! i did 55 mph on my mb50 with a big bore kit on it and the brakes are non existent:eek: putting your arms out slows the bike quicker than the brakes

On the 600 Bandit I managed a reading of 135mph & it felt like there may be a little bit more.

On the Bird I have taken her to a reading of 142mph on the M1
If you had been caught Derek, I wonder where they would have locked you up?

Iv'e seen 160 + on my 'bird but I was on the back. Neil's brother, Graham, was responsible for the sillyness.R#?

Seen 160mph on the clock on my slow blue one, fastest I've been is (an indicated) 163 on my old cbr600 fs2. I've gotta be honest and say that she was much more fun to go quick on, the 'Bird' does it way too easily, sheeet that sounds like I'm complaining; I'm not I love me 'Bird' but I do miss that 14,000rpm scream :neenaw:

Right covered the bird in an earlier post....

1979/80 Triumph T140V 750, with cockpit fairing and chopper straight through pipes, timing advanced ... engine ran smoother and could be adjusted with it running using a strobe light... On the clock speed 128 two up, racing a kettle on the way to Brands Hatch... whipped his ass..... he bottled out on a bend, me I was young and stupid....

VTR 1000, about 2 years ago, 160 on the clock.

PC50, 42 on the clock down hill with a 30 miles an hour tail wind.

Cycle, circa 1978... down hill overtaking cages doing 40 estimated speed at 48 mph. Till me feckin chain came off.

2 weekends ago I watched a woman do 181.2mph on her (unfaired) bandit turbo. It's the one featured in this months Streetfighters. Must have been a real struggle to hold on into that wind :D

My personal best is 215.7mph. I'm hoping to better that this year.

Incidentally, if any of you are interested in doing some top-speed weekends, we hold 3 of them a year over at www.200mph.net . Got one this coming weekend in fact, at RAF Woodbridge in Suffolk. Entries are closing today but anyone can come and spectate for a ?5 entry.

Good day that is.. Got my ticket for 184.6 there a couple of years back on the old carb bird..
Shame it is this weekend as it is the Bash here in Thetford..

Best I have had out of the efi shit heap is 176 ( both speeds done by timing lights and hand held radar, plus GPS )

I have yet to find a Bird with a speedo accuracy better than 8 % generour ( almost all are 10% OTT ! )

So if you see ( for instance ) 170 on the clock, sad to say you are only just clicking over the 150 mark at () proly ) 153ish...
