Went to the bike auction at Haynes Motor Museum today.

rather disappointing really, the standard and quality of bikes wasn’t great and 75% failed to achieve their reserve price. Quite a number of those sold ended up going to Australia.

I was able to keep my hands down, although I was tempted by a couple that didn’t sell. I’ll wait and see what happens next time in June.

Here’s a couple of pics, the Powerplus achieved its £30,000 reserve - my mate Barry just sold his 6 months ago for £35,000. I wonder if it’s the same bike, I’m waiting for an answer back about it.

The Triton I was interested in until I saw how poorly presented it was, it needed a damn good clean. Estimate £7500-£8000 hammer price was only £6200 unsold. If it is there again in June I may be tempted. IMG_3826.jpegIMG_3828.jpegIMG_3829.jpegIMG_3824.jpegIMG_3823.jpegIMG_3822.jpegIMG_3825.jpeg

Any Birds????
Yes

but not what you’re thinking of. There was a US market 1953 Triumph 6T Thunderbird painted black for the yanks and called the Blackbird over there. £10k-£11k estimate hammer went unsold at £7800.

In my humble opinion the Indian would be ten times better running/safe but otherwise unrestored condition.

At over 105 years old, she deserves to look her best.
Two very different camps on this - I am in the ‘all the history is lost, it’s just an ornament now, it wasn’t that good when it came out of the factory, original is cool‘ camp.

And not parked squarely it looks untidy like it was simply abandoned.

I downloaded call of duty onto the xbox, 11 hours it took, switched it on & got the message that I had to pay £25 to play it, deleted it & I’ll just buy it for £5 from cex

Out on bike today stopped for coffee at this little 2nd hand furniture/ bric-a-brac place with a coffee shop.

Spotted a small glass piece engraved with a Swan. Remembered Mrs L has a similar one with a King Fisher so bought it, £8. Also saw a Canon EOS 1100d DSLR camera with 64Gb memory card. A quick Google showed them going for anything from £50 and up. Bought it for £15. Even if it doesn't work at that price it was worth a gamble.

And even if it doesn’t work stick it on the Bay as spares or repairs and get more for it.
