Well yes you could actually.

Can't be applied to modern bikes then. Thanks for advice. Have ordered one of them ones the OP recommended.

In series with a shunt resistor across the ammeter but why would you want to? Volts is best!:-0)

I received my voltage LED thingy yesterday and I looked at fitting it today. Unfortunately, the recommended wire to connect to (red/black, fuse 4) seems rather fiddly to get at and I wonder if there's an alternative, easier wire to use?

The fuse box clips off, and allows you to solder a wire by splicing, just shaving off the No4 fuse feed insulation, then solder yours to the side, tape up, job done.

Bill.. don't forget to silicone it to stop water ingress.

Just over a month

Second one went belly up today. Basically I think they are too fragile for the infill on a bike. Shan't bother again. Andrew asked me to return the faulty one for examination which I did at my expense. Any follow up? Zilch. So I have paid for two and ended up with a hole in my infill. My advice.....avoid. Great in theory but impractical in practice!:-0)

Can't work that out Bill, I've had no trouble with mine.. and as you're the only one 'reported' with a fault are you sure you've not done something wrong?

Insults come free taking the pi%% costs money.

Is it getting wet Bill ?? or vibrating heavy ?? not got a bad connection / earth fault anywhere have you pal... (granny, eggs h1d1ng2 )

Is yours the 10mm, I ordered the 10, seems strange as you are the only one with problem.. :xm

I will go with it now Ive bought but will do an external rubber mount instead of drilling the infill.... I have also bought a couple of rocker switches as well for the satnav/ radio power and I was going to fit them toggether, will have a total rethink now ... give it another go mate and temp mount it elsewhere to try :dunno:

Think I put a post up about sealing the whole thing in silicone sealant.. electronics and water do not mix.

Yes Clive

Sealed with silicone but still went belly up. I've had a look and there doesn't seem to be any water ingress. I don't think vibration would have been a problem as it's in the infill and not touching the frame. In line four and not twin!!! My thoughts are that it should be sold properly sealed anyway. No big deal. Just annoyed at the hole in the infill but the bike is far from mint anyway!:-0)

Manufacturer does not know end application, bike, car, caravan, boat, lorry, stand by power supply etc, ... He designed the unit for voltage monitoring only...

Strip off the heatshrink and see if a wire's pulled off. I guess they are a bit fragile due to the size. Cant see 2 buggering up:dunno:

Having had the pee taken for importing the American ones that worked out at ?25 each I guess I can now say you get what you pay for. The one I got is designed solely for bikes. The electrics are sealed in an alloy heatsink type mount.
I've just fitted one to my current Bird even though she'll be up for sale any day, the Led is only 5mm which I've mounted in the narrow lip of the lower clock surround, just below the mileommeter reset button. Looks really neat IMHO. Not had a chance to run it yet, maybe test tomorrow when I've got her all back together from stripping my bits off for the new one.
I'll post a pic when I get a mo.

I used the same one as silverfox - no need to drill holes, just wrap it in the fuzzy velcro stuff and put a bit of hooky velcro stuff in the gap between the screen and the top of the dash. simples.

Advice re weatherproofing is good. mine works a treat.@tu*@tu*

i have a fog light switch, gear indicator:wank: and volt light all secured by extra heavy duty velcro (halfords and B&Q ) - no probs. Don't make it more complicasted thasn it needs to be.
