returning to the original posting.... ( sorry ! )

Who at cash converters was arrested for handling stolen property ?
If no one then there is room for an official complaint as the youth and the woman were treated differently to another person, persons or representative of an organisation who committed the same or similar offence

Whilst I am happy to agree it is quite possible the lad was a big bugger, possibly gobby, possibly aggressive and therefore considered a danger either to himself or to police officers, the mother being treated as she was is, quite frankly, bloody disgusting.

I have a lot of good mates who are job and are as normal ( if that word means anything ! ) as me and thee.. But I also know of a few at a certain factory in this area who should never have been given a warant card.. Trumped up little shits who love giving grief to kids and women.> Same arseholes who would not go near a travellers site cos they 'feared they were putting themselves in danger' :wank::wank:
I suspect the officers involved in this particualr incident might well have fallen into catagory two..
But as said elsewhere, we are not privy to all the information so really should not pass judgement on the single case, merely discuss this 'sort of thing' in general

Feck me. that almost sounded reasonable !

I apologies, you obviously know far more about police work than I
I know that many years ago the police were respected, and that is no longer the case.
Ask yourself why. If you don't know the answer I'll be happy to make a few genuine suggestions involving political correctness, sloppiness, arrogance, persecution of motorists, disregard of burglary, etc, unwillingness to do anything.................... et al.

Of course you are correct RH, I agree that the police force does have elements of those.

I would point out that for every one of your examples I (and probably others) could give you two when the service given has been good, delivered in a professional manner, with a willingness to help etc etc !!

It's the same as any profession, good and bad in all. (I'm sure you can think of people at your place of work who are good at what they do and some that are bad?)

I would disagree that the police are not respected, some people do and some people don't.

Don't tar us all with the same brush (how's that for a politically incorrect statement!!)

As much as I hate to say it Dave ( and believe me I really do hate to say it ), police in this area are more feared than respected.. Feared because we are used as a sort of training ground for young met lads as far as we can work out..
They are often trying to make a name for them selves and often throwing their weight around.

Whilst the respect is still there for time served lads, the upcoming lot are never spoken to or trusted simply because people never know what on earth they are going to do !

Point in case COULD be ( and I repeat, only could be ) the mum of the boy in the header of this thread. Went to see what all the grief was about and try to help and ended up being banged up..

It is a worrying trend that seems to me to be caused by a lack of training.
I do not mean basic training but more the old school practice of always sending out the sprogs with an old hand for a good few months or until the gungho attitude wears off :-0)

And has anyone got an answer as to why no one at Cash Converters was arrested or even cautioned ?

Old time pawn brokers were held directly responsible for any goods they took in..

Agree with you John, like I said good and bad everywhere.

Met training ground, didn't realise the Met did any training

I don't normally get involved in "police" type threads, cause I'm getting too old for the arguments etc.
Hopefully I've not come across with a "police do no wrong" attitude, having been in for 22 years I know we do, but also lots of good work gets done by lots of good cops :-0)

The facts in the first post is the story according to plod they said they searched them because one of the boys tried to hide his bag from them the bag had his sandwhiches in so not much reason to hide it also they where stopped and searched in the boys own street he had only left the house ten minutes before the phone had never been reported stolen the boy was in cuffs thrown in a van then a cell because it was not registerd to him it took them over an hour to find out it had ever been stolen by contacting the last registerd keeper of the phone it had been taken from her bag in a club and she had never reported it stolen

Question is what grounds do they need to stop and search ? is it normal to cuff a 15 year old i have to say that looks and is about the size of your avrage 12 year old ? as it was never reported stolen by the owner how would cash converters or my friend ever know it was stolen so what crime was commited ?

And police wonder why teenagers get and attitude.... REALLY

It's a fair and valid point here...whenever the cops try to stop and search me for stuff I always but always try and hide my stuff by eating it...My stuff is usually ham and pickle sandwiches...but only last week some coont tipped them off that I'd been to Turners the butchers in a place called Jump near Barnsley where I'd picked up a stash of freshly baked Hand sized Pork Pies...I can tell you now that when the undercover squad "hit" me I managed to eat all 6 of these pies...but not before an almighty kerfuffle...It wasn't a pretty sight... fresh warm jelly and gravy splattered all over the place....But the bastids aint gonna pin anything on me

What the fook is ya friend going to a Cash Converters for a fookin moby for...?..He/she thick or what...?9.99 in the supermarket FFS's...

I think ya friend has filled ya heed with a load of bollox..and while I'm at it...the cops are pie stealing bastids too....

No mate.. in fact as far as I am concerned every officer we have on here generally gives a pretty balanced view..
Sure, sometimes someone gets a bit zealous but that is passion for the job..
Same I get defensive if someone slags off the blackbird for instance..

I honestly believe that most peeps ( certainly on here ) appreciate there are good and bad.. problem is a sensible officer using his brains will never be heard of.. a wooden top with his brains in his trousers will always be heard about and by their actions lower the overall public support of the police.

Sadly, with manning issues across the country, it is sometimes difficult to find decent candidates..and the force is having to take what they can get !

So bottom line a sandwhich is a bag is good enough reason to stop and search ?

Fecking right it is !!!!
Remember the islamic extremists hiding bombs in rucksacs?
If the teenage eliment whats to act tough and give the old bill cause for concern, then they get what they deserve.
Zero tollerence and teach the feckers respect for the law !!!
As stated, stolen property was recovered.
Out of interest was the receipt for the phone from "Cash Converters" availiable for the police to look at?

So you're suggesting a 33% 'failure rate'? Your figures sound accurate.

I'm sure you can think of people at your place of work who are good at what they do and some that are bad?
Actually no, but I accept that is the case in some workplaces.
The difference is that those bad employees don't go out and harass the public who pay their wages- see my point?

I would disagree that the police are not respected, some people do and some people don't.
I'll agree with Jaws here- many are feared rather than respected.

Don't tar us all with the same brush
I won't- any comments will be aimed in specific directions.

Possible scenario, 15 year old kid steals or buys a stolen mobile phone from someone at school, Mother asks where he got it from kid says bought it from cash converters, as all children are mothers little angels mother believes him, rightful owner finds out who has got the phone & alerts the police, the police then see the lad who on seeing the police tries to hide the phone from them, not all 15 year old kids tell the truth
