That yellow/red wire brings the +ve from fuse D through the starter button to the coil in the solenoid. I believe it is not a good connection somewhere along that line o I want to by-pass it!

Did you check fuse D is not corroded?

This was a disgraceful episode in the history of the main bash,TT. An innocent attendee towed his Fireblade, behind his campervan. His bones being too old to camp. Whilst he was out visiting his daughter and grandchildren on his bike a misguided miscreant with a penchant for pumps, aided and abetted by others including a birthday boy from up north and a biker with a lust for the colour yellow decided to hoist the bike trailer into a nearby tree. On his return the elderly individual pretended not to notice the trailer was missing so that on the final day the malcontents were forced to return the trailer before they left the site. A moral victory for the aforesaid elderly biker. :bow:

Starter button.

Petros' starting problem traced to the starter button. WD40 helped a bit but we are going to get some contact cleaner and see if that clears the problem or whether a new assembly is needed. @tu*
