Well.

I cant believe I have come to the end of my journey to find the fault with my Bird. I have owned the bike for 3 years and it has never run so better. This is a message to anyone who owns a 2000 injected blackbird, has the dreaded FI light issue and has completed the loom fix, detailed in other threads. Do not believe the FI warning flashes if it indicates the Knock Sensor is at fault. If the bike is running rich, has poor MPG and seems to be down on power, CHANGE THE ECM! With thanks to Clive and Taff, I sorted the issue within days of returning to this forum. The second hand ECM with chips for the keys cost me ?350 from Taff and thats for a 1999 second hand unit. If you ask me, its money well spent because my Bird is running better than it has ever done. Clearly this fault with the ECM needs to be documented!

I am now a happy man:yo:

You can't get rid of me that easy Clive, I am here for good. Don't forget, if anyone needs a traffic law question answering, as away.

Just another quick update guys, since changing over the ECM the bike has done about 600 miles and not missed a beat:) no misfires, no over fuelling and more importantly, no dreaded FI light! Something is telling me the FI light issue was the ECM all the time and not the documented earth/loom issue!

Still worth checking/doing the loom fix mod as it eliminates a potential problem.. Good news all's ok. My 'new' ECM is about 4,000 miles old.
