As you may have seen recently I’ve had to resort to putting down a trap to sort out the pesky little varmint that had attacked my chocolate hobnobs

I’ve reported how over the past week that I’d found a dead mouse 3 days out of 4 once I’d started to use peanuts as bait. I wasn’t going to use my Marmite peanut butter, that’s mine alone!

But now for the past couple of days the trap has been empty and untouched - can you believe it, one day the bait had gone and trap unsprung!

So what’s gone wrong? They developed a dislike for peanuts, or have I killed them all? Now I’m worried I don’t know what has happened?

Try and find the nest (not impossible).
Mice piss frequently, the stronger the
smell of ammonia the closer you are to the nest.
Pray they're not in your wall cavity, could be costly.
Like Coug's said....Get a mouser.
Not this type though......

And mouse poison is stronger than rat poison I'm reliably told.

Pork scratchings??

Always used chocolate when I've had mice in the house, usually brought in by the cat.

Don’t ponce about with humane traps…they aren’t very good.

Traditional spring loaded traps are the only way to go, smear ‘bait’ on the trap rather than putting a lump of something on it - pretty much any food will do…jam, peanut butter, cream cheese…..so they can’t physically remove stuff from the traps. Heaven knows how they remove bait but they do. Persevere with it, trust me I took on one property that was running with mice, got rid of them using traditional traps (a lot!) over two or three weeks.

Despite having been proved an animal abuser by the judge and jury on here personally I have avoided poison as it can transfer to other animals.

I've had good results with nuttella on a good old fashioned style wooden trap.

Poison bait is an agonising death along
with internal bleeding & hemorrhaging, which is very uncomfortable and painful a very long drawn out death.
Traps are only slightly more humane.
Have you considered a penny whistle?

My humane traps do a blinding job. I've now taken to releasing the little fuckers 200 yards away and cutting their legs off so they can't come back.
