Jim Davison, Bernard Manning humour is mainly unimaginitive and offensive. The fact that a number of you on here still have little regard, for others different to yourselves is sad, but lets be honest not at all important to the universe.
This evening (weather permitting), I will go to one of the oldest bike meets in the country, the Ace Cafe. I will meet motorcycle enthusiast of every colour, race, religion and nationality. All rejoicing in the past, with respect for each other and forming the British motorcycle, future.
When some of you are ready to crawl out of your primitive holes, You will find that like Canute, you can't turn back the tide. The future for this country is exciting, after all I'm old enough to remember that your fathers were very anti everything Japanese!
But for now I must accept that "you can't educate pork."

Totally agree on Davidson & Manning on being unfunny, not so sure on offensive it really depends on what you regard as funny and /or offensive and whether you see comedy as an art that should push boundaries

I find Billy Connelly very funny, where as others see him as offensive, I find Lenny Henry and Steven K Amos both unfunny and inoffensive nothing to do with them being black, just their not very good, yet two comedians who I think are fantastic are considered offensive and by some critics racist are the late Richard Prior and Eddie Murphy.

I personally would never consider my self racist (yes I know that is the stock retort of racists) and would agree that there is some posts on here that go beyond what a modern tolerant society would care to be exposed to, but those I have met from on the site have most certainly never expressed an racist sentiments in the flesh.

It maybe as Andy suggested that it is down to the age demographic of the Blackbird owners who remember the days of Alf Garnett and Love thy Neighbour on mainstream TV see no issues in similar humour.

I have no doubt that you are a nice guy (even if you do have friends that are Police Officers:eek:) and would probably enjoy a day out with some of the people on here

That just reminded me, Saturday night entertainment at one of the McBash's was a black comedian, he wasn't very funny and could have been considered offensive as he made quite a few references about large breasts singling out one of the locals for special treatment.

Although big tits have never been a worry on this forum

Mind you he was performing in front of an intimidating Sarf Afrikan at the time !!

I dont like this leftie shit about "race, colour and creed" I liked being called Honky, Bogdweller, Paleface, Deepeyed, Limey or anything else you can think of, like it was back in the day when we had freedom, free speech, common sense and a British resolve to fuck the rest.

Dave my dear "I find offense in everything as I go looking for it" Friend

I would be interested in your views on Lenny Henry and his opinion that there is not enough minorities within the media and entertainment quoting stereotypes. This is despite Lenny starting out in his career in the black and white minstrel show and having largely built his fame and millions by comedic black stereotypes.

Anyone remember tiswas, ott, Theophilus P. Wildebeeste? In truth he seems now to be saying do as I say and not as I have done which made me very rich.

Or boyz in the hood or most rappers where the n word is used like we would use the word "The"

Personally I don't see what you see as I don't wear your hate filled racist glasses

What I do see when I see Lenny Henry is a man who has made a life long career out of taking the piss out of his own colour, made millions doing so and now his career is over he wants to be an "activist" whilst sleeping in a premier inn bed.

Not someone I would take social equality lessons from...he knows he's too big to fit in those beds.

I have followed this thread with interest.
First of all, I feel that the OP was funny, none race specific, and was something that I would be happy to use in any company.

Lenny Henry. : He is a really nice bloke. I know him very well. we were at school together, still keep in touch, and I have told him recently that I think he used to be funny. I now think he should concentrate on the 'straight' acting that he is actually very good at.
He was 16 when he became famous, and was steered towards certain shows like the Black and White minstrel show, and other sitcoms by management.

BUT. He would very often use his colour ( and size) for comedy reaction, on one visit to my parents house their dog jumped up and licked his hand, he immediately said " It's not chocolate mate, just some black bloke".
It was his job to be funny, and then he was. He was using ANY situation that was likely to make people laugh. In those days people laughed at things that they don't now!

I personally think his comments about 'more black people in the media and in shows' is being aimed at the wrong place. The press have miss quoted him ( as they do everyone), and if he feels that way, he is in a position to be banging on desks of senior TV people rather than moaning generally in interviews.
I agree with him that if a show or production is based in a certain part of the country then the local community should be represented, and not have 'just' white people. BUT.. It's no good having a show based in the British 50's with the main bloke or woman being a senior Police officer, or doctor, or MP, or .whatever as a black person... You get my drift. It was very rare for it to happen then!
But it does now, so he has a point.

As to the ramblings about racist comments earlier. I firmly believe that in this case it was someone LOOKING to be upset by the comment / joke.

We all have our opinions about 'some' groups, peoples, races, religions, and creeds.
I hate the Parisians, they are ALL arrogant impolite garlic smelling show offs. But I will visit the place again, and be polite to them.
I hate Cruisers ( Harley, Indian, Victory, bob, street, hardtail, feet up arse low, wrists in the air..You get the idea.) They are uncomfortable to ride, shake you to bits, don't turn, are almost impossible to use the back brake on...). But as a piece of engineering some are fantastic. If I was given one, I would sell it on without sitting on it. Can't stand them.

So I'm Opinionated, Biased, Sometimes Intolerant, but NOT Racist.

Everyone should look very closely at themselves before deciding what they say and think about others.

That is all.

Murt.

There's been a lot of critism about my grammar, if that's the only thing they can focus on, then i take it my argument has merit. Thank you!

Since a couple of you have now mentioned Mr Henry, here's my take. For years I had zero time for his comedy. I think again that it was cheap and pandered to the black stereo types. Now he and I grew up just a few miles apart and his 1st cousin was a very close friend. I know he did what he felt he needed to do to get on, but he did it for too long, in my opinion.
However since he has become a serious actor, (and I've been lucky enough to see him in a couple of plays) I think he is brilliant.
Should he speak out about so few ethnics on TV yes, if not he then who? (Or is that whom?) Lets face it, he is the household name of Black artists in this country.
By the way, Love Thy Neighbour, and Til' Death Us Do Part, was 40years ago. But let us not forget that Alf Garnet (Warren Mitchell) was not celebrateing the opinion, he was ridiculing it. Maybe some on here would do well to watch him again, change his words for theirs, then they would hear what I hear.

As I'm writing this Jeremy Clarkson has just been on the news apologising for causing offence with words that he used. He's not tried to justify it, by saying well he's not racist so it's ok, or challenging the grammar of his critics!

No, your arguments do not have merit. I've commented on your posts before and I'll write the same again: your grammar is shite such that half your posts make sod all sense.

I've also raised the issue as to whether you're blind or retarded. Are you really that dull that all you see is people knocking your grammar? Either you have skin as thick as a rhino or you're as thick as a Barry White shit on Boxing Day.

As you clearly need it to be spelled out again, you're grammar is a side issue. The main point is that you sir, are a racist. You see offence where none exists or is intended. You just want to be offended so you can bash people with the R stick. How bout you fuck off and take it somewhere else?

Before you go, I have a question: how do you actually manage to ride a 'Bird? It must be an incredibly difficult feat with the centre of gravity being so high with you having a sack of King Eddie's on each shoulder. Ass-hat.

I don't think anyone hates davey boy because of his colour, I think it's because he's an obnoxious intolerant fuckwit.
He seems to be blind to peoples comments about his attitude and deliberately looking for offence, perhaps he has no counter argument, so only picks the grammer comments as cause to complain.
He seems quite happy to stereotype and insult us by calling us cavemen, is this not exactly the sort of thing he is complaining about?

I could go on holding mirror up to davey boy, to take a look at himself first, but I suspect it would be a waste of time on such a bigoted person and so I will waste no more time on this.

One last thought........perhaps davey boy should come along to a bird meet sometime and maybe we would open his eyes to the fact that we are exactly the same as he is- human.

Are we allowed to say Barry White? Just checking.

I wouldn't criticize your grammar Dave Bee, personally I think she's a lovely lady.

Pretty much has been all said hasn't it and all this started because of Lenny Henry, I NEVER found him funny, the brummy accent made all of his jokes sound boring.
