Lakes Ride, a bit more interesting ride in???

Hi all, just looking over the directions for people to meet at the pier and wondered why not a more interesting ride in. I ride this area a lot, over Hardnot, Wrynose etc and always run in off the A6/A590 through the Lythe Vallley, bringing you out about a quarter mile from the ferry point right in the town centre. Dead easy, so two ways. Either come off the motorway at Jnct 36 along the dual carriageway (A590) and then take the next left onto the A590 to Barrow, follow the road, again dual carriageway, for a couple of miles and then take the next right onto the A5074 (Gilpin Bridge Inn). Follow this past Crosthwaite all the way into Bowness. There's a couple of hairpins and fast corners but be careful if you haven't ridden it before it may well catch you out. The road rises and falls with a couple of sweepers. You'll love it and will want to do it all over again. At the back end of Crosthwaite the road appears to come to a T junction but is actually a 90 left with a feed from the right, be careful here as cages tend to carry on straight across in front of you from the right. Just after this point you can either bear off left through Bowland Bridge up over a great acute rising (1:3) left hander at Strawberry Bank (which will catch you if you don't plan it) or carry on along the A5074 through Winster straight to Bowness ferry. If you decide to go over Strawberry Bank (after stopping to take in the views) at the very end of the road turn right onto the A592 and this will run along the side of Windermere up to the ferry crossing. Sounds easy ?????? It is.
Don't know where you're all going to end up but if you're over on the coast after going over Wrynose/Hardknott then the A595 offers good fast riding all the way back down to Millom/Ulverston and back along eventually to the motorway or A6. Enjoy, and I might even come out for a play myself,.... If anybody needs any more info drop me a line/PM. Andy

ok

Ok, not looking to tread on any toes, you could still do exactly the same ride plan, just makes a little "taster" on the way in instead of A roads/ M ways. But hey, it's your ride plan and I'm not about to start upsetting anybody.

Have a good run peeps~~~

Sorry I won't be there - bike MOT ran out 29 April and haven't had time to "get it sorted" - or even cleaned - post-Belgium

Weather looks to OK for up there - just dodge the rainclouds!

Post some piccies after just to rub salt in?

Enjoy and keep the rubber side where it belongs?
