John - if you don't mind a CBR1000 hanging onto your coat tails I fancy the Lakes Run. Definately no outfit!

Cheers - I could meet you and Mozza somewhere around Preston - assuming you will be flying up the M61.

Well i have been a busy boy.

I have found some cracking routes for the Sunday rideout into the depths of the Great British Lake District.
Do peeps have any objections to having a good long day out??
I can cram in 4 very good passes in a circular which will mean stopping for dinner when we find somewhere with a carpark then pressing on OR we can meander at a leasurely pace (so Robbo can keep up) and do maybe 3 passes and blat back on boring roads........
I'm voting for a steady 4 pass day which will see some fantastic scenery.

Count me in, but it will be for the one day only as I wont be doing a stop over.

Either the Saturday or the Sunday is okay with me, just need a meeting point on both days and a time, so I can meet you there for the start of the ride out.

So....just to confirm the details, cos I'm being thick tonight - c7u8

Bowness Pier, 10.30am, Sunday 8th May. Is that right?

And it may be Wrynose etc and A.N.Other pass, or maybe two more??

Ending back at Bowness, sometime in the late afternoon?

Ta R#?

Sam, yep so far so good.

Wrynose Pass, Hardnotts Pass, Honister Pass & Kirkstone Pass and coming back down to Windermere for goodbyes.

Meeting point will be Bowness Pier at 10:00-10:30 with a view to leaving pretty much on the ball due to distance, crossing 't'other side by ferry and straight into the passes.

Ordnance Survey 'Tour' map 'Lake District & Cumbria is worth a purchase prior and i will print out the exact route i INTEND to take (no fancy GPS gizmos here).

Lunchtime will be approx 13:00hrs and we'll be stopping here http://www.bridge-hotel.com/dining.htm

Lakes rideout

Hi guys,

Ive just checked my work roster and Im off that weekend. As long as we can arrange for the kids to be looked after for the weekend then Me and the wife will definately be there.

Ive also invited my dad and his wife, Blackbird owners too, who live in Merseyside. He's up for it if nothing else has already been planned.

Its his 60th on the Monday so will be a good opportunity for general piss taking about his age/riding ability/ state of his leathers etc......

Better get on the phone and find some potential babysitters then:eek:

Nice one, just be aware that its actually only the SUNDAY rideout, if you wanna stay over somewhere Sat night thats entirely your choice.
If its what you want then i'm prepared to find you somewhere near by, most of us are hitting it in 1 day so its an early start and reasonable finish.

It will be good to meet some new faces.

Jon, it would be good to have you along.
Hmmmmm not so sure about you cutting it short though, i shall have to speak with the management about that.
You'll enjoy the slower pace for a change anyway. :-:

I thought you should all be warned.

I have just got back from a couple of days in the Lakes (in the cage unfortunately) and came across a display in a push-bike shop about a cycle challenge being undertaken in the Lakes on the 8th May. It starts in Coniston between 8 and 9 am and travels in an anti-clockwise direction around Cumbria talking in ALL the passes except - I think - Whinlatter Pass.

I don't know how many are doing it but you can rest assured they will probably ride in groups. :loo:

So take care and keep an eye out for your other two-wheeled friends

FEK FEK FEK, :bang:
mind you at least the "cycle" clubs tend to ride only in daylight hours, which means they will be visible, even if they are riding 3/4/5 or more abreast!!
my "problem" is with the twats out at "dark" times without lights, florescent gear or common sense,
