Helmsley, Sutton Bank, Stokesley, Whitby and Scarborough. Absolutely heaving with bikes at times and not always a pleasant experience

Have we any residents of these popular biking areas on here?

Yep, I'm betwixt Whitby & Scarborough

The local Bike club down 'ere are now thinking of arranging a mass bike run up to this neck o' the woods to see what all the fuzz is about.

Perhaps a demonstration is in order.

But then a go-slow mass ride out could be breaking the law.

Last Mega Ride in Plymouth had thousands of bikes, was it over 5k or 6k,
but with plenty of time to arrange for the summer it could errr, be a Go-er.:-0)

I dont think the blackbird is a oldmans bike you just ride them like old men.Im brummie and proud of it but thats nothing to do with you. bum bandit

 When I got my first one, the MCN had a write up about it that I still have - it was described as 'the bike your dad buys when he's trying to persuade your mum he's being sensible (see the sensible pillion seat luv)'!!!! A friend said it was definitely an older man's mid life crisis bike - either a BB or a Blonde Bimbo!!!!!! Why the Fck I ended up with one I have no idea (I wasn't old and am not a man!! c7u8)

I've got an old xbox, a Nintendo DS & today I went out & bought a Wii, who wants to grow up?:-0)

+ 1! Can't wait to move house so I can get the Wii and wii fit out again! :neenaw:

You are an old man Hellraiser. Along with most on here.

Got my first Bird in 98 at the age of 41. Had it 7 years. The second one, 2 years.
I wont go into the list of bikes I had before 25+ but had another old man's bike prior to the Bird, a VFR and before that a GPZ900, ZX7R, RG500 and alongside the bird I have had a SP1, Blade an R1, another ZX7R and I am now at 52 riding an 08 Speed Triple 2.
The Bird served it's purpose taking Carol and me around Europe numerous times and of course the best thing about it was meeting other like minded folk on this forum and the previous incarnation.

The Bird is still an old man's bike.
Youngsters don't lust after one and cannot afford to insure one.

for what its worth

If I didn't ride 2 up for 99% & didn't spend touring UK & europe then I would not have a blackbird, prolly have a blade or a Aprilla RSV.
The Bird is a great comfy mile muncher & you can have (limited) fun on it,, but for solo work give me a lighter more nimble sports bike anyday.
I was 38 when I got my first Bird,, loved my RSV before that but Lornas legs & neck couldn't cope with the pillion perch.
So at 39+ it is an old mans bike.:-0)

I have to say that I wanted an R1. I didn't think I'd take it out often so wasn't too concerned about the riding position etc.

I got a Bird as a compromise........

Missus said I could only have a bike if it was a Bird!!:-0)

I would like to make it clear that the bird IS NOT an old mans bike, unfortunately i've seen too many old men riding it as if it is.

Anyone that thinks its an old mans bike should try ridng it properly.........

And if the younger generation weren't a bunch of sheep (generally speaking), and didn't buy bikes according to fashion, then they would discover the true meaning of the mighty blackbird.

There, I feel better now!

I was 22 when I had my first birdy, 26 now, so ok, maybe I am old! :-0) But it's not an old mans bike, and I'm kidding no-one, ride it properly, to the red line through gears 1 to 6 (if you got enough road) and then tell me its an old mans bike!!!! Even red line 1 to 4 gives a good shot of adrenaline! And I think it handles beutifully, after fitting all the jaws mods, it's been awesome, nice confident handling.
