with a large minority riding like idiots.
QUOTE]

I think if people ride like a twat, then don't moan if you get treated like a twat.

that doesn't address the point scribbler was making. I don't doubt he shares the same opinion about the idiots among us (I've met him and there won't be anyone less idiotic than he on this forum - or any other)
he merely highlighted Humberside Police's disproportionate attention to bikers, and as each & every one of us occasionally breaks a speed limit where we deem it safe, it follows we will all be more likely to accrue points & fines

Don't worry fella. It's when you start hanging round internet forums that welcome you on your opening thread with greetings like 'welcome to the nut house' and then spend your time reading the drivel of paunch ridden middle aged men drone on & on & on........
That's when you really know your f*cked.

Quite right Dean..not condoning reckless riding...just concerned that the amount of attention given to speeding in general by the Authorities is getting out of all proportion.

Jaws is correct with his point that speed doesn't necessarily equate to dangerous riding...reality is that speed is a fairly minor factor in the majority of accidents.

What this latest "campaign" in East Yorkshire and North Lincs means is that with such a large amount of resources being pumped into it the powers that be will want to see results to justify the expenditure..I'm sure this will equate not to the winkling out of the reckless riders but any of us who are spotted breaking the national speed limits even by a modest amount.

Anyone breaking the speed limit by a modest amount is breaking the law, and I gather that applies to bikes as well as cars.
The old bill aren't totally stupid and are under an over critical eye of the public.
I cant really see them spending trillions of bucks to catch 2 bikers, the problem riders must be a considerable problem to warrant such measures.

I ride to ride in my own space, by what ever means.
I know if I ride like a twat I could die, I could also find the weight of the law apon me, and that is my choice.

No-one is above the law and the law must be upheld to the letter otherwise we'd live in an anacistic soceity. Break the law at your own peril, but FFS dont winge about it if you're caught.

Dont get mad get even
Bwahahahahaha!

A 'REAL' biker afraid of having a bad name. Do me a favour...

All this 'riders like you, give us all a bad name' is f*cking bollox.
Rebellion is a young man's game. Anything after that is middle aged motorcyclists having a wine & moan.

I never started riding bikes because it was safe or socially acceptable. I rode bikes because it gave me a thrill to ride as fast as I possibly could, liked to be thought of as slightly anti social & a bit of a greebo.
Long hair, loud metal & bikes. Two fingers up at the law & weekends getting f*cked out of my scull on alcohol and substances.

I got older, realised I had to change in order to grow, & now I can look back on my youth & twenties with great fondness and a little cheeky glint in my eye that tells me I got away with a lot.

I've been a long time in the 'socially acceptable' catagory, just another number, another with a mortgage and mouths to feed, but I still ride bikes. I'll never be as sad as to point the finger at anyone who has a bit of a mad moment & shout out "It's blokes like you that are ruining it for the rest of us." I may be on the door of middle age, who now blends in with the average motorcyclist, but I'll not whinge like a sad c*nt.

And breathe......:-0)

How many copers or just boring old farts are on this site? If you not going to ride fast and break the speed limit just go and buy a honda 125 .cus there is no point having a blackbird.

I think you'll find my posts do address Scribbler's point but I'll make them clearer.

The helicopter may be a valuable tool in tackling law breaking and potentially saving lives, injury and insurance claims.
Breaking of traffic law is breaking the law.
These well known stretches of biking roads have a death and injury rate that isn't acceptable caused by bad riding. It's not just the rider that may get injured but the totally innocent caused by his actions.
There is the nusance factor as well. I wouldn't like to live in some of the villages where these nutters ride.
To folk who don't know these areas, we're not talking about a few bikes now and then, it's hoards and pretty well continuous. You see the same bikes riding the same bits of road, up and down, up and down, I assume trying to ride as fast as they can.
Do it on a track day not on the road.
To some it may seem disproportionate, to the folk that live in these popular biking areas it may not.

I don't think I mentioned speeding. Bad riding is my point. Overtaking at junctions is the main crime I witness along with tailgating.

Other crimes have and are been targeted and tackled, I think there is a case for anti social biking to be targeted in these areas.

Missing the point Hellraiser.
There are plenty of places where we can ride fast, break the speed limit, we all do, although I am am a bit more careful now ... 9 points... but bad riding especially in popular area attracts police attention.

Anyway with a name like Hellraiser what u doin riding an old man's bike and frequenting an old man's forum? :)

Made I larf that did......as I have mentioned before, coppers DO like to ride fast and enjoy motorcycling on their days off like the rest of us....The problem I see is the distinction between tosser riders and good ones....where do you draw that line....We all have our way of enjoying the bike and some might be faster than others...Just because some bikes break the speed limit, does that make them tossers....How many car drivers amonst you can say you have never broken the speed limit.....Honestly its a load of old bollox....To me, the tosser riders are the ones out there with their Day-glo jackets and strips, white helmeted, pretentending to be a copper,Harley riding twats that are the worst....If thats not giving motorcycling a bad name then I dont know what is!!!
