Bwahahahahaha!

A 'REAL' biker afraid of having a bad name. Do me a favour...

All this 'riders like you, give us all a bad name' is f*cking bollox.
Rebellion is a young man's game. Anything after that is middle aged motorcyclists having a wine & moan.

I never started riding bikes because it was safe or socially acceptable. I rode bikes because it gave me a thrill to ride as fast as I possibly could, liked to be thought of as slightly anti social & a bit of a greebo.
Long hair, loud metal & bikes. Two fingers up at the law & weekends getting f*cked out of my scull on alcohol and substances.

I got older, realised I had to change in order to grow, & now I can look back on my youth & twenties with great fondness and a little cheeky glint in my eye that tells me I got away with a lot.

I've been a long time in the 'socially acceptable' catagory, just another number, another with a mortgage and mouths to feed, but I still ride bikes. I'll never be as sad as to point the finger at anyone who has a bit of a mad moment & shout out "It's blokes like you that are ruining it for the rest of us." I may be on the door of middle age, who now blends in with the average motorcyclist, but I'll not whinge like a sad c*nt.

And breathe......:-0)

I hear beta-blockers are best for the blood pressure son ..... :-0)

Other crimes have and are been targeted and tackled
I think the original point was the complete opposite of this-
If you think their crime detection cleanup rate is good, what percentage of burglaries do they catch people for? More or less than 20%?
Similarly muggings, petty theft & assault?
And what resources do they commit to a purge on this kind of crime?

I think there is a case for anti social biking to be targeted in these areas.
The original and enduring point is the disproportionality of the resources on a small number of people.

The view of disproportionality is, of course, completely subjective. The average cost of a fatal accident is, I believe, in excess of one million pounds. This doesn't take into account the devastation to the families of those that are killed of course.

How do you measure the value of a life against the absence of your DVD player when you get home?

As with all things it comes down to balance. I don't imagine Humberside are diverting all of their efforts into this operation.

Morph people have an in built feeling of immortality when it comes to motoring, they think accidents only happen to other people regardless of how they ride/drive, however they know that every time they leave their house even to go to the local shop there is a good chance that they will be burgled & have their Dvd player stolen

Rather than take quotes out of context, if you read my posts in total you will find that I have addressed the disroportionanlity aspect.
I never mentioned detection /cleanup rates let alone saying they were good.

What I will say is that here in N.E.Lincolnshire a couple of years ago we had long operation targetting drug dealers resulting in numerous convictions and imprisonments.
Antisocial behaviour has been targetted and highlighted along with drink driving. There again, numerous convictions and the local paper reports good feedback from previously troubled residents.
I attended a Police community liaison evening in November here and all reported crime figures were down on the previous. Maybe we are lucky but in the 8 years of being here I do not know anyone who has been the victiom of theft, burglary or violent crime. Yes we read about it in the paper but for the 11000 approx. population of Immingham the crime rate is low and falling.
I do understand that in larger towns and cities have different problems but I can only speak as I find.

There must be more bikers on here wth experience of large number of motorbikes converging on good biking roads and witnessing bad and dangerous riding. Overtaking at junctions seem to be the most common practice.
Helmsley, Sutton Bank, Stokesly, Whitby and Scarborough. Absolutely heaving with bikes at times and not always a pleasant experience
Yorkshire Wolds, Wetwang nearly as bad.
Law of averages, more bikers, more incidents of bad riding.

Should anything be done about it?
If education isn't working, should helicopter police be resourced?
As I posted earlier, it may be over the top but there may be a need for it.

Have we any residents of these popular biking areas on here?

Derek, you are absolutely right on the question of immortality, I see it every day. Heck, most of us have felt it ourselves at some point or another.

Good chance of getting your DVD player nicked? In some very limited areas yes, generally no.

Not a resident but I have a friend not a million miles away in Waltham near Grimsby & I remember last year when visiting him there was an item on the local news about how Motorcycle related deaths were increasing every year & Police were being urged to clamp down on so called mad bikers

maybe it's an area specific thing Roxx? :dunno: I think a trip to Willingham on the first decent Wednesday next month would sell the tale .... can't be unique to Lincs, but last year was utter carnage around here .... started badly with the guy at North Thoresby junction on the A16 ...

Hey Derek, who's the guy in Waltham? you can guarantee we know him, its the biggest village in the world Grimsby / Clee & surounding villages ....
