Kind of. There have been 4 different beaters each with the same items, all of the start prices are perhaps 1/4 of the nominal value and a buy it now of perhaps 1/2 price. One picture and then the second picture gives an email contact.

I got a stern email from eBay telling me off this morning and threatening to suspend me for 7 days.

The reason? I put an offer in on a listing for a set of alloy wheels and some bodywork parts that was automatically declined. I then sent the seller a message via eBay saying I was only interested in the wheels , we went back and forth a few times and made a deal on the wheels only. We also made arrangements for me to collect the wheels and I gave the seller my mobile number for him to contact me if there were any issues as I had a four hour round trip to pick the wheels up.

Apparently I 'made a deal outside of ebay' and buyers are not allowed to give phone numbers to sellers', although sellers can give phone numbers to buyers.

The first reason is totally garbage, it was all done within eBay, totally transparent from my end. If the seller cancelled the listing subsequently to save on seller fees (I have no idea if he did, I paid cash as per listing, the rest is up to him) then that's hardly down to me.

If buyers can't give phone numbers somewhere in the small print then fair enough, although I fail to see why this wouldn't be allowed.

No doubt an automated email triggered by specific words in my exchanges with the seller. Another example of automation getting it completely wrong.

I have fallen foul of this too ebay expect you to buy something like a bike or car that can cost many thousands of pounds totally unseen so wont allow you to exchange numbers, emails or addresses to arrange a viewing because they think you may buy outside of ebay & then they will lose their percentage, now if selling I always put my phone number up & say if you want to view phone ! & text will be ignored

In the past I have asked a seller for their number to arrange viewing & have had the same message from ebay even though the seller has made it clear the sale will proceed through ebay & I have agreed

Here’s just one as an example, search his other stuff for loads more

https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https://www.ebay.co.uk/ulk/itm/324048920041

Format is always - 1 x pic of vehicle and 1 x pic with email address. Price in the second pic (which has his email) is always more than the eBay advertised one.

Item is always described as:

"This is a fantastic example. Has paperwork and two keys. Full history
Any questions or anything please get in touch. Thank you"

Its not the one I was thinking of & cant find an example at the moment, the guy I thought of does similar with hundreds of vehicles listed all at 99p start but its similar with the single pic & then the email those are listed as uk sales but when you look at the background to pics its fairly obvious the vehicles are not in the uk & number plates are never shown

Can't remember....

Friend spotted same vehicle by 2 different sellers on Irish site. One showed no. plate other didn't but he was absolutely certain it was same vehicle.
He contacted the first guy to warn him to report it. Never heard what happened.

He also strung along a guy in UK then told him he had a friend living very close to vendor. End of correspondence.

Another guy wanted him to buy a bike already crated and ready to transport......
Yea right!
I'll pay you and open the box later:D:D

My day, bloody awful at the start ......

First thing this morning I burnt my hand on a hot piece of metal, still sore as hell now !

Next I get a call an important meeting had to be cancelled due to the woman being off sick, so it was back up the shed where I contrived to run a saw across the back of my other hand (clumsy git)

Ok thnks me I will pop up to my mates to pick up some stuff I have been promising to shift for days & guess what bloody, sodding, rotten, camel w**nking battery on my "new" car was flat due to someone not closing a door properly hence leaving the interior light on for about 4 days

Then I came on here & all was well with the world again :D

Ooh, even the interior lights in my crappy old Fiat go off automatically after 5/10 minutes or so. Come to that so do the lights in my VW.

I’d take it back it’s obviously faulty.

My own fault for leaving the door not quite shut even though I had locked it, its a 99 yaris that has no automatic anything, it don't even have a cd player, which resulted in a long & confusing discussion about tape players with my 8 year old granddaughter :D

I read somewhere that tape cassettes were coming back. Why...?? :yikes: Is it some sort of conspiracy created by BIC and the pencil companies to boost their sales...??

I like the way your mind works :) the first thing I did when the missus bought me a tape was to grab a pen & tighten the spools :D

Alarm clock went off so I had to get up for work.
Got out to the car & scraped the ice off.
Drove to work stuck behind a twat who’d no idea how to drive on an icy road.
Got to work, my usual parking spot was taken.
Got into work, my usual set of keys were not for issue so had to get another set.
My morning went ok after that.
Dinner time decided to catch up on my emails, just taken a bite of my fruit bread when the phone rang.
Psychologist on the phone “hyee, I’m ........, can you tell me how Cat A ..... ........ has been over the past week?”
“No I can’t as I’ve just had ten days off, why don’t you put the phone down & get off your lazy backside & come up & ask him yourself, but do it after 1300 hours when I’m not on my dinner break”
“Oh, oh, ssssorry”
Colleague (laughing) “do you feel better now?

I met Mrs P at our new house after she’d flown 13 hours from KL (four hours rest during the flight though) and then driving another two and a half hours over here. Spent a few hours wandering around the new house and doing some cleaning. Can’t wait to move in proper.

Sky are coming Wednesday, me safe and the bikes are coming Thursday. Need to get an alarm installed at some stage during the week.
