And how about this ..
A few years ago terrorists were using 'shoe bombs'
Should any one looking a bit sussy take their shoes off if entering any sort of public building ?

Get a bloody grip the lot of you!

Is it really so much of a deal?

And it is just plain rude engaging with anyone while wearing a helmet.

If you are all so precious find a garage that has pay at the pump by card. There are plenty around.

Or get a car. They are better than bikes anyway.

Dudley Fuckin' Do-Right's off on one again! As Derek basically said earlier in this thread, once filling stations provide somewhere safe to place bike helmets, then they might find motorcyclists a bit more obligiging.

So, yes, it is that much of a deal, so sod off you pious little shit!

Pious little shit.......... With standards and bigger fish to fry if you don't mind.

Personally I am more bothered by the appalling standard of motorbike riding I se every day on my commute. Which is sadly why I also see so many motorbikelists on the floor on an all too regular basis.

Find a pump with a credit card facility ....... And move on.

I still find it hard to believe that we put a man on the moon nearly 50 years ago when I see whining like this

Space scientists still say it was a dreadful mistake as the US then withdrew most of the funding. We could have been on Mars now if we had ignored the moon.:-0)

PS. No, I will NOT take my helmet off. It is a pain especially in the winter with balaclava and earplugs. :-0)

He wasn't talking about his stature, I think he was referring to his mental state.

6 foot 1 inch as you are all so interested:lick:

By the way, filled up this morning at Sainsbury in Greenwich, card in pump away three minutes. Simples.

Then stopped at B&Q for a couple of bits, took the helmet off then swapped pleasantries with the nice lady on the till when I paid.

All very civilised@tu*

B&Q Yes, Andy.

That is voluntary shopping but topping up fuel is a necessity! They have your reg. number and a piccie of your face on CCTV. I always use pay at the pump where possible but many places don't have the facility. Most odd for me was a garage at Llangurig who put £16 of petrol into my bike (not self-service) and then told me cash only! brok3 8rfl@

Now THAT is a point worth making, Andrew. It actually makes me wonder if some of them are riding particularly badly as they are in serious discomfort. Perhaps from having diesel dribbling down their necks after being forced to remove their helmets and place them on the forecourt floor as that is the lesser of the evils?

Just out of interest, while off out on a job yesterday, the taxi driver was telling me that a motorbikist is killed almost every day of the year here in Singapore. Over 300 fatalities a year; that's way too much but seeing the way these monkeys drive, I can't say I'm surprised.

You pious slightly-taller-than-average shit :-0)

I'm 6'1" and I hardly think that's "well over" six foot, Blobbo.

Yes, but your 6'5", Darren so that is "quite a bit" taller than 6'1".

I had two 'clients' out today taking them to test.
On the way we stopped at our usual garage to fill the bikes ( a CB500f and a Gladius) up.
We have always used the same garage and done the same thing. ( until today).

It goes like this.. I park up out of the way, those two park up side by side at one pump, but don't get off. I join them and open tanks, fill up with fuel, first one, then the other. then close fillers and go and pay. they move away from the pump at the same time. Simple.

Today we do as usual... Machine won't turn on..
Eventually the new manager shouts over the Tannoy " You can't fill up with a person on the vehicle!!!"

After a lot of gesticulating and muttering I get both lads off the bikes and fill up.

When I'm paying, I comment to the (now hiding in a corner) manager about why he told the two lads to get off the bikes :dunno:

All he would say was " Vehicles are not allowed to be filled when the person is still on it".

I pointed out the fact that most of the other vehicles on the forecourt had passengers in / on them and nothing was being said!

I then told him we would be filling up at the other petrol station nearby in future ( About ten bikes in all so quite a fuel bill).
He just coloured up and went into the back room. :wank:

He never mentioned helmets at all!!

Ask for the written procedure and risk assessment to support his claim. Filling up while sat on the bike is stupid anyways

For a lone rider, I tend to agree ( ouch, that hurt).
But the way we do it it safe. More than one person to deal, less chance of spillage as bike is upright.
Quicker, two done in the same time as one.
And more efficient, Don't have to replace nozzle and swap over to another bike, thus pay twice.

Also less chance of a learner dropping the bike on slippery surface.
