Nearly 200 out of a tank is good going and judging by the pics, Bob is certainly seeing the country. any observations pro's and cons since ownership started?

Pros; He's a blackbird, so awesome by default. He goes like a spaceship, comfy as a cruiseship. Speed is effortless, acceleration is hilariously excessive (which is great for slapping boy racers with, bless their little saxos). He's lovely and rock-steady at slow speeds; his turning circle is much tighter than the Fireblade I rode. Bob delivered excellent U turns in side streets in London and in Northwich.

Cons; 30mph feels so slow its like you're going backwards. I love the look of twin exhaust cans but I'd never thought about how it's ANOTHER obstruction for when you're cleaning your rear wheel.

I'd like to get him in a brutal crosswind at some point. On the one hand; huge fairings like a sailing ship, but he also weighs a fair bit (sat and worked it out; 1 Bob = 4 Me). I'm not sure if I've already rode him through some and I didn't notice because he doesn't give a monkeys, or if I've still got that fun to come.

I'm sure if I need to bleed/change brake fluid or change the headlamp I'll start cursing his name, but so far, all good. Only had to change the front brake switch so far.

Bob tops the scales about 220kg
So you are approx 55kg

Just a tiny young lady !!! Any wonder you are getting such excellent mpg !!
Most of us on here weight quite a bit more !!!

You will know how heavy the Bird when you need to lift it !! Often adrenalin kicks in and technique .... You will be amazed how easy it is !!

I can put my old 600 down on it's side and pick it back up again without the tank on it and that takes a fair bit of effort. My plan is to just not drop Bob. He takes a bit of gusto to put up on the centre stand.

My dad was never a big bloke and he had a Goldwing. He managed to drop it and was trying to pick it back up when a little old lady came over and asked him if he needed a hand.

What with his helmet?

Took Bob out to Bike 4 Life 2016. Lots of other nice Birds out too. Including two other blue blackbirds parked at the services that I managed to find before finding my own bike.

There was a particularly nice red one with gold rotors, fork legs, XX's and such that was particularly pretty.

Great turn out, fantastic weather. I faced a nearly empty stretch of closed M54 at one point and didn't do anything stupid!

Must ask .... What is that blue heavy goods vehicle towing a trailer behind you ??? :dunno:

Where was the police escort with "wide load" notices ??

Not sure I would like to drive such a beast ....

Why ??? :dunno:

Come on man, where is the love? There was a nice... 'diversity' of bikes out, including two Benelli Tornados, and they have stupid little plastic propellers in the back that make them look like kiddies bath toys.

At least he's not riding a gixxer..

I always liked the tornado's and always wanted one, it looked like a great day out

It felt like a worthwhile trip but it was very crowded.

What takes your fancy about the tornado? Benellis are far too expensive for me to even go beyond the looks. All I can say is I prefer the tornado in it's green scheme.

A combination of, at the time, new design, angular looks, funky fans and yes the green and silver paint job. I know a gixxer 600 would probably better it in almost all standards but there was just something about it. It is on my bucket list still.

The only thing that has to be taken into account is servicing and maintenance is like ktm used to be. So forums and actual owners opinions are worth listening too

Not as expensive second hand as you might think, there are some going for around the ?3k mark with a low mileage, I can see one at the momment for ?3200 with 4k miles for a 2006

Bought a wing rack for Bob on ebay from Somerset. Made it an overnight stop at the Blackbird Inn and took in the A39 over Exmoor. Fully reccomend that road, though some of the hairpins were more like tarmac-thrown-at-a-cliff than real roads.
