Thanks for the warm welcome guys! Lloydie; did you take your bird to the ADSA forecourt on Allard Way much in 2012?

Well done! I noticed on sunday that the edge of the nosecone fairing around the bottom of the screen is dark red. What gives it away as not being a natural blue? I presumed the nosecone had been replaced due to breakage and resprayed to match the rest of the bike... but do you think it's a full respray?

This one was declared new in 1998 by an independent importer and the odometer displays in kilometers (even though the speedometer and trip counter both display as mph/miles).

Hi BP and welcome..!

And ignore the daft old gits if they pick on you cos of the colour. Blue's the best by far. @tu*

Do you know what country it came from originally...? Mine was originally imported new from Belgium and registered in GB as new. I suspect the orignal owner may never have known. It turned out to be restricted to 100bhp (or whatever the Euro equivalent is..). Took me a while to find the method to de-restrict it but it's not difficult to do.

P.S. Blackbirds are always "she"...! That's why they're called BlackBIRDs...:-0)

Oh no, I've had she-bikes before. Temperamental, cantankerous, bi-polar she-bikes. This one is definately a he... he just gets on with it! Plus he's blue-for-boy.

I've used the vin number in the Lings Honda Parts website and it's come back as German or whatever AR is.

Im not sure if/what he needs yet. I'd like some girl-hand sized levers but it's not an immediate need.

I've not had time to go over the bike with a fine-tooth comb yet, since I bought it I've been doing plenty of overtime to help pay for it. I'd already aquired a bagster tank cover earlier this summer, that'll be going on tomorrow, along with all the ride-out wristbands onto a wing mirror.

Obviously I could spend a fortune on shiny, colourful bolts but not yet!!!:-0)

Sorry, BP. Been away for a few days due to work stuff.

AR is Austria so you should be fine. @tu*

The frogs version was restricted to about 100bhp - although rumour has it that the law there will be binned in 2016.

There were also apparently two versions of the Bird for sale in Germany. A 98hp version and the full power one.

Other than sticking it on a dyno, the quickest way to check is to lift the tank up (seat off, undo tank bolt and carefully prop up tank) and look down the inlet tubes.

If they're clear all the way down then your ok, if they have little alloy semi circle shaped restrictors half way down then it's restricted.

Getting out on it when I can! Took it to the Wednesday night bike night at Great Billing this week.

I'll lift the tank and check the inlet tubes, if I'm paying insurance prices for the full monty, that's what I'll be wanting!!! I want to take a look at the reg/rec anyway. The headlight was dimming alternate to the indicators quite a bit out in the dark on wednesday and that was one of the symptoms the 600F had when it's reg/rec was dying.

Reg/rec from Jaws Motorcycles if it comes to it @tu* and (depending on how old the current one is..) it might be worth pricing up a new battery while you're at it...

The hid on the dipped will help with output as well as it draws much less but with a greater output.

Been busy doing stupid amounts of overtime, but I did get out on the bird the other night for a putter down the A5 to see some friends at the Red Lion Truck Stop (LOVED the portion sizes and prices!!!)

As for the tits? No, I have little tits. Big tits get in the way of hugging the tank!
