I would seriosly doubt you could afford those photos... Far too much mileage left in them when they still get bites like that:neenaw:

NY Police have been publicising their crackdown on bikers and those caught doing excessive speeds can be fast-tracked through the courts and could face not only a loss of licence and high fine but confiscation of the bike as well.

Hope it doesn't come to that for your mate and that they don't decide to make an example of him.

That particular stretch of road is well known for speeding and plod can see you from a good way off well before you have any idea that he's there. You pays your money......!

Listen to the do-gooders............ the guy was unlucky.

The whole of the UK is a restricted area!........So Bazz & Barrie, you've never ridden over 120mph then?

You own guns and never fire them! Do you both ride 170mph bikes purely for the kudos and cos it sounds good in the juicer?

I have to agree with Samster. No, it aint big or clever but I have ridden at well over the limit. My moments of "stupidity" have always been on motorways with very little traffic or dual carriageways with good visibility and I accept that if caught at these speeds I will almost certainly lose my licence or even my liberty but I would not blame anyone other than myself.

I do it for the thrill and anyone who rides a BB or similar bike is a liar if they say that they do not or have not explored the very things (speed, handling, thrill factor) that are the main reasons for buying a bike of this type.

He will just have to take his punishment like a man and accept that bikers are seen as reckless anyway and expect the court to treat him as such.

OK,OK Skiers I admit I ride over the speed limit as we all do. I assumed, maybe wrongly, that the 60 limit in question was a POSTED 60 and not the national speed limit on a single carriageway. There is a difference and if caught doing 124 in a Posted 60 I think its a bit silly :dunno:

No was the national speed limit, which is a 60 zone.

Why is there a diffrence in a posted 60 ie dual carriage way and the good old back and white sign. They both mean 60 ?????????????

Ooops....... on a dual carriageway the good ole b&W means national imit applies - 70mph on dual carriageways M8. So a 60 limit means the normal national dual carriageway limit of 70 does not apply.

I'm pissed off at the way various arbitrary limits are being used for nonsense efforts to control everyone.

Go along the Cat & Fiddle these days and there's miles and miles of what wud be 60mph posted as 50... why??????
Turn left or right off the main drag and you're greeted with a single carriageway road and a sign denoting the national limit applies.
So the big two lane/two way road is 50mph limit and the icky wicky tractor track s 60 - yeah like that makes sense.

And OK I know someone is going to say it's cause so many (mostly bikers?) have ballsed it up big style along there. OK but is that reason to make every single other driver in the UK have an arbitrary limit applied.

Anyway rant over..... :bang:

Barrie, why are you as good as calling me a WANKER ??? When all I did was ask you a question. I think you are been the ignorant person here.

You implied that there is a diffrence in getting caught in a 'posted' 60 limit that would be on a daul carriage way and the national speed limit on a single carraige way. These are both 60 limits, so why would there be a difference in getting caught in them??

Nobby, sorry if I didn't explain my thoughts on this clearly but if the local councils have thought it necessary to post a 60 or any other speed limit for that matter, I would assume that there is a considered danger over and above that on a National speed limit. So, having been warned of this by the posted limit, I consider that more care should be taken. In my area, a once pleasure to ride dual carriageway with a national speed limit of 70mph has been posted with a 50. Bloody annoying to me but I know there have been many accidents on this road because of its long sweeping bends. Yes I still do well over 50 on this road when its quiet but if I get caught whos fault is it?The Signs are big enough to see :dunno: On the IOM their national speed limit is as fast as you think is safe but, when the TT is on they post speed limits to try to keep visitors from killing themselves.

So why's he saying through away the key?

 for a bunch of open minded people theres a hell of alot o ban this, jail them, need more laws for that. BOLLOCKS.
If you don't want tarred with the hooligan brush of fast bikes don't drive them and don't go on to sites full of people who ride them.
Why not go read about nice safe gardening or knitting if speed offends.:wank:

And stabbing yourself in the foot with a Garden fork can lead to hours in a hospital queue waiting for a tetanus jab, in which time you could contract MRSA, and spend even longer in hospital, possibly forever and ever.

so now we have established that biking is safer than knitting and Gardening

Didn't think I was laying down the law just don't understand why someone would spend a considerable amount of money buying a bike capable of more than twice the national limit so they can pootle around on. There are plenty of comfy bikes capable of touring or whatever sensible riding you want to do.
And now that they have the bike, everyone else who rides the machine anywhere near its capabilities should be locked up for giving them a bad name.
It's just not logical captain.
