Mate's just been clocked by a Police Radar at 124MPH in a 60 zone. Was on the Ingleton to Hawes Road (B6255). It was in a Blue unmarked Subaru hiden behind a wall, so beware.

I was wondering whats the going fine, ban, points for such speeds??

Definite ban of 6 months plus but probably a year, fine would be about ?500+ and can be income related so could be up to a couple of grand.

Lucky he wasn't going 16mph faster or he could be facing a custodial sentence

Prognosis is not good..

....at more than double the speed limit it's an instant ban for sure!!!

Minimum 3 months, but unless he has a very good "reason" for such an excessive speed or catches the bench on a bad day, easily 12 months, plus up to 4 figure fine, plus probably made to re-take test (which means CBT, the lot).

Why the fook go at such a ridiculous speed in the first place in a restricted area?? Some people ask for trouble with a capital "T"

At that speed he could be bunking up with BUBBA, i'd suggest he buys a soap on a rope quick man8um

No Bazz they arn't asking for trouble, they are trouble. Tar and brush springs to mind. We all get blamed for those who abuse the speed limits by such a margin.

Listen to the do-gooders............ the guy was unlucky.

The whole of the UK is a restricted area!........So Bazz & Barrie, you've never ridden over 120mph then?

You own guns and never fire them! Do you both ride 170mph bikes purely for the kudos and cos it sounds good in the juicer?

I can't say anything because I am in deep enough shit myself, waiting for a summons to arrive anytime in the next 5 months - and no doubt facing a ban unless a friendly beak listens understandingly to my pleas .....

So I won't !!

Oh, go on then I will:

"That's f-ckin goin' some in a 60 tho' ain't it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! "..... :neenaw:

a mate of mine and blu's got caught doing 126 in a 60,went pass the officer trying to flag him down...road block up ahead stopped him.he ended up with a 2 month ban and a fine(amount of which i'm not sure, but think it was around ?500)...until he was caught driving whilst disqualified c7u8 TWICE c7u8 c7u8 ..so now he has a years ban.

before you all say it....yes i know he is a prize plonker.

some limits are...

thats all A/B roads mate...60 national speed limit!!! thats dont mean it was some residentual area might have been in the middle of bodmin moor! and some A/B roads are better and in some cases wider than dual carriadgeways...so 124mph is well obtainable on A/B roads so is 187mph on the right roads....its down to the person on the throttle ....i dont own a blackbird to sit behind old grannys ...and im sure that every rider on this site has been well over the limit when circumstances allow....dont make judgements till you know the full facts....and besides whats a subaru doing hiding in the hedge! they must know its a fast flowing road to be there in the first place...

that scooby is well known around here. sneaky buggers. allways give the nod to oncoming if seen. we must stick together. as for 124 it could have been much worse on that stretch of road.

I know that road, wall close to road on one side, fence close to road on other, loose sheep, fell walkers, 3-peakers, blind yumps, straight road though and tempting to open up. But always popular with bikers, traffic cops know that as well, so just like the bears at a salmon leap, easy pickings for plod with a low scoresheet.

I got caught for 136 in a 60 two years ago on my old ZZR1100...after much wrangling over 3 months with a very good solicitor,i got off with 1 week ban,4 points and ?230. I was very very lucky.
C'mon,we all do it...sometimes your luck runs out...we're all due one at some time...:xm

I'm not whiter than white and have 6 points and 120 quid to the treasury. However I know this road pretty well (as do a lot of us probably), and a few years back we were on a family run out in the cage on this stretch of road going towards Hawes. A bike came past us at god knows what speed and I said to the Mrs that we'd catch him up later. Sure enough he was laid in the grass verge just before Hawes and some distance from his bike with members of the public around him (no bikers at that particular moment).

It was in the days before I took up 'biking and said to the wife "I told you we'd catch him up". I'm ashamed to say I was rather smug and thinking to myself that he deserved all he got for riding at that speed.

If a rider wants to ride like that then let him, but should others be left to pick up the pieces when it all goes tits-up?

Here's another way of looking at it: You can exceed the speed limit on the highway and the minimum is ?60. For another 40 quid you can have a track day and go as fast and as mad as you want with minimum danger to others. Think about it.
