I'm booking the Plymouth/Santander ferry for this at weekend...The ferry only gets in late morning and I'll probably have a hangover so I'll be stopping overnight on the way over to Catalunya. Anyone know a good place to stop midway between Santander and Barcelona?

w;;v Are you going on the bike, Paul?

Paul, looks like we may be travelling with you 8th--18th due to the shift of the race dates. We are looking at stopping in BURGOS, that way we can come across the mountains and make a jorney of it and probably go back the shite way in 1 hit..

Right, the cheapest ferry deal I?ve found is with http://www.motorsport-travel.com , ?401 return with inside two berth cabin, that?s going out on Wednesday 8th and returning on Thursday 16th. This is about ?50-60 cheaper than booking it direct with Brittany Ferries??.for some odd reason?..

I?m travelling over by myself, because of work and childcare stuff Karen is going to fly in on Saturday and join up for the rest of the trip (including the ferry back).

Accommodation plans are still a tad sketchy at the moment, basically I need somewhere to doss down on Friday night within reach of the airport. Saturday and Sunday night may be spent in Vic, which is handy both for the track and Monday?s run up into Andorra. The remaining nights, as we head slowly back to Santander, are probably just going to be booked as we travel i.e. phoning ahead.

All I need to do now is work out where the best stands are for the GP (see http://www.circuitcat.com/ingles/venta/tribunasgp.asp ) and arrange the tickets

Ferry and flight now booked for this........comforting feeling.....ahhhhh...

What are people going to do for race day tickets? I was thinking of ordering them on-line. However, perhaps we should all try and get seats in the same stand with a decent view of the track and screens? Thoughts please......

w;;v Fodder. I've booked the ferry and we can travel down together if you like. What's happening on the accommodation front, Paul? Or is that down to Rhino?

Lorraine's going to be surfing the Internet tonight to see what's available. She's already spoken with a guy at Moto Events regarding tickets (walk-in ?48 for all three days) and I'll be speaking with him again, this morning.

DA / FODDER, my brother spoke to me yesterday re the race tickets, he's making enquiries this week about them..
Accomodation is a grey area, if you find somewhere you fancy then book it, my initial plans were to organise a place in the village but so many members who initially showed interest have backed out so...!
I'm staying with my brother in Lleida or Lerida (depending on what part of the world your from, its a village called 'Belpuig de Urgell' and its about 40 miles from the track but in the middle of the Catalan play ground.
I'm gonna try and book the same days as you 2, 8th to go out but what date back in??

Got the tickets an' all!

From Moto Events. A bit pricey at ?80 but we're in Stand "H" that allows you to see plenty of the course and also has big screens for the bits you can't see. Go here to see a photograph of the circuit:
http://www.circuitcat.com/ingles/circuit/imagenes/mapag.jpg

Tickets range in price from ?48 walk-in to ?80 for a stand ticket. ?32 isn't too much to pay for a bit of additional comfort - and don't forget - that gets you into the circuit for all three days! :}

Call Moto Events and have a chat with a nice lady called Jane if ya like:

UK (7 days / 9am ? 8pm ) Tel. 01223 370107

See ya there!

...Can hardly wait...!!!

Still checking out travelling times and places to stay. If you've got any ideas or preferences please let us know.

Just to whet your appetite a little further, go and have a look at the circuit and the views from the different seating areas. Click on the stand that you want to view - then click on "description" in the gray box. You can even zoom in for a closer look! Stand "H" is described as follows:

The best view of the stadium. Located on the straight before turn New Holland, with an excellent view of the whole stadium and the last turn before going into the main straight. Recommended gate: 2.

COME on!!! :lick:

The trip from Santander can easily be polished off in 6 hrs taking in some fantastic scenery on the many highlighted 'scenic routes'...

One of the days out will consist of a very twisty mountain pass from Andorra in a loop over some of THE best terrain with spectacular views across mainland Spain. The route is marked on the O/S map as 'scenic'...
Rhino, are you still going to guide us in, M8? How easy is it to book rooms in Leida? Is that the best place to stay - or would somewhere closer to the track be preferable? (Just askin', 'cos I don't know!) :h

Paul, it's only six hours (three two-hour stints if you're feeling a bit sore in the head}...still stopping midway for a rest - or stopping "overnight"? :dunno:

...Would be interested in going, though I would have to meet you at Lleida, as I live in Malaga and would travel up to meet you. Keep me posted. Paul & Trudi.
You still up for the trip, Graphite? And, as you're already out there, any ideas on reasonably priced accomodation - or should we just buy a tent? :}

DA, if you are going to all 3 days at the circuit then you need to be nearer to Barcelona than i'm intending.
I'm staying with my brother so i'm only going for the Sunday hence i don't mind the trip down on the day.
As for leading you in (lol) i'll certainly show you the route i'm considering, a lot depends on arrival times, weather, and what the general feeling is, i did it in one last time but it IS a hard ride over the tops, motorway is the quickest route but its not very good. Let me have a play on AutoRoute today and i'll come up with a solution ASAP. I'll phone Paul today and get details of hotels in the villiage incase and also details of stopover midway if people want that.

Eric, drop me a mail on johnnycbr@msn.com and i'll send you back my home & mobile number. Fodder, could do with the same if poss please so we can tie some bits up, thanks. JT
