I got to get rid of the Dunlops 207's they are :puke:

best regards

They are the 45/46st azaros. I had a chat with Avon and the 49/50s are the sportier option but you'll get less miles out of them, different tyre alltogether.
I've still not been out in the wet hoping to tomorrow keep you posted.R#? Blu.

Combinations of tyres

Talking to a tyre guy & says that a popular choice at the mo is the Avon SP ( stickier on the front) & the ST (harder on the rear). & at least you are changing tyres in pairs not a rear for nearly 2 fronts. Bit like running an 010 on the front & an 020 on the rear. Also its easier to save the rear in a slide than the front. any body here running this combo?? if so conclusions please?

Bearing in mind most/all of my riding is 2 up,, so stickier front might be the way to go. :h

Fortunately most people are unable to ride a bike to its limits so for mere mortals like me the comparisons are meaningless, however I will be fully ladened this time tomorrow so I might have another story to tell.

FWIW

I used to run Bridgestones and swore by them.

Used to have them on my CBR 600 2000 model and then on the Bird when I part ex'ed the 600.

Had 6 pair of 020's on the bird and never had a problem with them even in the wet. Good feed back, good confidence level.

Then, on the advice of Pete changed to Avon St's.

I noticed a huge difference straight away, better feed back, more grip in the dry, good stability at any speed, but, in the wet, crap. I felt like the bike was ready to let go at even a modest lean angle.

Now I've gone over to Avon Vipers and if your read my reply to AVONS ROCK, you'll know how much faith I put in these tyres.

These are by far the best tyre I've ever had fitted to a bike. The only adverse comment I have about them is the lack of feed back. There's nothing. I get nothing telling me they are slipping or on the edge, they dont seem to have an edge!!. They just stick. Even in the wet, these are great, much sticky'er.

I'm not too sure about the milage I'll get from them, but time will tell. In any event who cares. If they stick and handle like they do it has to be worth it.

Pete, get me another pair lined up cause when theyre dead, I'll be sticking some more on. (unless Avon come up with something better of course.)

This is about an 80 mph corner, with the French old bill heading the other way, in the rain with Azaros on :t
Pete,
Is it me, or is your screen smashed to smithereens in that French picture of yours? I hope it wasn't the Avons that caused that! Looks a sore one!

I'm with you Pete......

Even on wet roads with cowshit on them, Azaro's are predictable. I wasn't impressed with them on gravel roads but I doubt that any sports tyre is much chop. Then again, maybe it was the pillock riding it on aforesaid roads!

Wouls be interested in a long term evaluation of the Vipers - currently unavailable in NZ.

Cheers

So quite a few months have gone by since this thread was active at the expense of being :bandit:
I was wondering how the latest generation of 45/46's are doing according to all you guys out there
We know they're ok in the dry warmth of summer but with winter well and truly with us how are they performing
just to spice things up
I :dunno: as I ain't used them since my off but prolly will try them again next summer
My winter riding is now done on Pilot powers fooking awesome no other word for em
Rhino how you gonna manage when you get the Busa I think you'll have to shod it with 45/46's or you'll be changing boots every thou or so :}

the azaros have been ok for me so far this winter - though i have only done 500 miles on the bird or so since oct(all on b roads though). having said that i've just had a pair of michelin pilot roads but on my bmw 1100s - totally awesome thus far (500 miles). i'd heard that azaros didn't seem to agree with the s, but the michelins, although very good, were a lot more expensive. but much better than the 020s i had on it before.

I've had no problems with them except they seem to wear out much faster than the early ones. my first rear got me nearly 8K the second just under 7K and this one is smooth after 4.5K. perhaps i'm just pushing them a bit harder and having more fun.
