:dunno: Not sure you got the name right there Moped, should it not read ST 46, as in sports touring, I think from memory the SP is a full on sport tyre, no good for the Bird.

I am sorry Moped I stand corrected, there is a new tyre out but I would still recomend the ST version, I think the sport tyre is a mistake, like fitting 010's on the Bird :t .

Wether or not the Bird needs one of these "B" tyres or not I don't know, I had supperb stability with the ordinary Azaros, but I can't wait to give these a try

NEW AZARO ?B?VERSIONS FOR ULTIMATE STABILITY
Six new ?B? version tyres are now available in key sizes to meet the needs of

machines with inherently distinctive handling characteristics.

The new versions are available in 120/70ZR17, 180/55ZR17 and 190/50ZR17, in both the Azaro-ST and Azaro-SP Sport ranges.

The introduction of these new variants follows extensive homologation testing with motorcycle manufacturers.

Leo Smith, Technical Product Manager, said, ?There have been instances recently where machine development has focused on areas other than stability and this is particularly true of some ultra-high speed motorcycles. We have used our expertise to design a more stable platform for such bikes, giving our customers an alternative option, should it be required.?

Cooper-Avon?s fitment recommendations are being updated to include the latest tyres.

The new B versions, together with their product codes, are listed below;

Azaro-ST AV45 AV46

120/70R17 [product code 4056617]

180/55R17 [product code 4066717]

190/55R17 [product code 4066317]

Azaro-SP Sport AV49/AV50

120/70R17 [product code 4166117]

180/55R17 [product code 4176717]

190/50R17 [product code 4176317]

All I could find, was the info given to me by the Avon web site.

Just goes to show.... In another thread I said that all our bikes are different.. and this thread really proves it I reckon !
Last year I tried a pair of Avons..
You remember that last summer was kinda monsoony ! Well after about 8 or 900 miles I had to bin them and go back to BT57's..
The moment it started to rain I had the back spinning up with even moderate acceleration, and the front.... well I just felt it was slipping out at even the mildest of lean angles... Ok, I aint the most confident in the wet, and no doubt some of it was in my head rather than what was really happening.. but I do not think I will be leaving the Bridgestone fold again in a hurry !

Just got the e-mail reply from Avon :-

Hello
Motorcycle such as the Blackbird have extremely particular steering needs and as such, to obtain the highest level of pass certification for these requirements, certain tyre types are nominally tested. Best overall tyre performance, as approved by Honda themselves is to be found with the Azaro SP Sport tyres.

A significant increase in mileage will be encountered by people wishing to use the Azaro ST tyres, which conform to all speed and load requirements for the model

How wierd is that :dunno: supose i dotta try the sports now

I agree with Jaws, but beg to differ!!

I had a set of Avon Azuro's on my Thundercat, and they are better than the BT57's it came with untill it rained

Then things got just a little interesting even with sub 100BHP

BUT

The current Azuro's are a new breed, and have got some really good write ups in the biking press (I will try to find the article, I never throw anything away)

I thinks this is a plain case of "last years model", so be carefull if you are buying cheap

If the wet weather handling is proved (keep me posted) I would certainly go back to them

Had the azaro's fitted yesterday and did about 120miles.
First impression was they were ok but I was really taking it easy getting them scrubbed in.
However after only 30 miles I felt so confident.
By the time I got home I'd taken the rear to the edge.
I know most new tyres feel good after riding on shagged ones but these feel better than others I've tried in the past.
I was going to replace with 020's but couldn't make my mind up.
After reading Pete's thread decieded to give the azaro's a go. Glad I did thanks Pete.
I've yet to try them in the wet, will let you know what they're like when I do.
The price I paid fitted and balanced ?150(loose wheels) If you get a puncture within the first 1mm they'll change the tyre for a new one.
There was also a promotion offer of a free padock jacket or travel bag when you send Avon the reciept but that ended 31may, I just got in on this as I ordered them on the 30th.
So all in all a very good deal eh!
Nice and wet today but I can't get out in it to try them as the cam chain tensioner's gone tit's up anyone know where I can get one urgent. blu.

It was not easy, fortunately I was in conversation with a guy at motorcycle news at the time, on a totally un related thing but I did drop a few names and that seemed to help a bit.

But all in all they were ok.
