You won't win this argument round 'ere mate....bunch of rabid neo's as you've seen. But don't give in mate, coz you're right and they are wrong!

They can pull out that freedom of speech bull as many times as they like but it's wrong, because there is no right or priviledge in this country that allows anyone to force anyone else (in this case asians) to accept that they are inferior.

The jist of the joke is that asians are as cheap to get rid of as glasses...ha...ha...ha...my sides split....It may only be a joke, but it's the thin end of wedge of white supremecism.

So if he inserted an Irishman, a jock, a Taff, or an Englishman....I bet you would look at it differently. I've heard people laugh out loud at similar jokes...and then sucked thru' their teeth as they just realised that in this "free society" you can't laugh at something that you find funny and have no racist bone in your body!!!! My Ex was coloured...the lads at work told jokes about coloureds..fucking funny!!!!(So were the English jokes from the Jocks and the Welsh!) The only time I took offence was when one guy was talking about blacks and said..."them fuckers..they're dirty smelly diseased fuckers "....NOW, THAT IS RACISM AND FROM A SMALL MINDED UNEDUCATED WANKER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He does'nt work with me anymore! These post from people who are getting upset, really piss me off......Laugh for gods sake...they're jokes!.........or back click and move on!

well ive read these 2 threads and must say it is nice to see opinions placed for both sides..
personally i think jaws is right,if the thread was removed because one or two people asked him too..
at what point does the buck stop with people demanding and expecting threads that they dont agree with removed?

all of a sudden you get a one sided view of this forum ,
with anything that someone does not like removed and all that would be left would be posts of red blackbirds

jaws could always lock the threads to stop em being bumped... solves the problem! still here but will fade away in a week or two ...

In your opinion, which in a democratic society you are entitled to regardless of whether it is the view shared by the majority or the minority however britain is rapidly becoming a non democratic society due to the bleeding heart pc brigade shouting from the rooftops every time someone dares to tell a joke about non europeans.

So do you feel equal to a paedophile/rapist/mugger/murderer, etc whatever their colour do you think they should be allowed to feel on a par with decent people?

have you ever found when you are walking towards a group of Asians they are talking in English then as you approach they suddenly start talking in Erdu or Hindi why do you think that is? perhaps they are telling a joke about getting rid of a white man.
I think most people see the joke for exactly what it is a joke & then give it no more thought

I've been on the Vodka tonight so please excuse me if i go on a bit and drift off topic ( but I bet my spelling and grammar is better than most of you sober fookers ) but this is my honest opinion on racism. I grew up in what we now call a multicultural society, I had reason to dislike certain individuals from various ethnic groups and in my mid teen angst did hold some racist views, as I grew older ( and greyer) I came to realise that the bad feeling I had toward said people was not really about their colour or race , just those particular individuals . Since then I judge everyone I meet as an individual, I don't like everyone and some of the people I dislike are Asian , black , but most are white. For some reason I have never had cause to dislike anyone of Chinese origin, maybe because of the few I know all are really nice people. But the main reason I decided to see the wider picture was because I feel that should I wish to , I ,as a white Brit can expect to be able to travel to any part of the world and if I so desire set up home there and be accepted by the locals, and would therefore be hypocritical of me to deny anyone else from any other part of the world the same right to chose Britain as their home. I am not a PC do gooder , I do still see a joke as a joke no matter who is the butt of it , and having read the earlier post from the half German person I can understand his feeling towards so called racism, but I bet he finds Stan Boardmans famous line " The Germans bombed our Chippy " at least a bit funny, the top and bottom of it is no one should get on their high horse and pretend to know how a whole nation might feel about any one given statement or joke especially if they don't belong to the particular ethnic group they are speaking on behalf of.

Either way, it's still just a joke.

Let's just accept the fact that we don't all agree. Some of us have a very chequered background that means we have seen more of the world in some strange and volatile situations. Therefore, a healthy sense of humour was essential and this has carried on into later life.

However, I accept and appreciate other people's points of view, even if I don't agree with them. That's a good thing, the world would be one boring place if we all liked the same things and agreed all the time.

As Lumpy said, it's good that a healthy discourse has occurred as a result of the initial post and I applaud Andy for making his views felt!:yo:

But, as I just said, it is only a joke, after all!

Obviously there are degrees of offensiveness and we all have differing perceptions.

I have just posted an anecdote on another thread. I gave it serious thought before I posted it and while it is an old joke about stereotypical differences it doesn't put anyone down, uses a double entendre and is a little more subtle than some. I am sure that it will promote a groan rather than a guffaw.

While I have found some jokes and comments on this forum offensive and I admit that at times I may have been a little too sensitive, I still believe that there are boundaries of decency and right and wrong.

Interestingly it seems that this type of stereotypical humour is only funny to those who are not the butt of the joke.

There are Black and Asian members and readers of this site. I wonder if they get fed up of the same old jokes and discussions that these generate.

I don't think that posts should be deleted as it stands testament to the views or attitudes of the poster at the time. Through replies the poster may re think and re assess his stance and come to the conclusion that the posting was an error of judgement, or not.

In my opinion there are have been only a hand full of racist posts on this site and I have made my feelings known but I genuinely believe that most on here are decent people and that no offence was intended by this joke. It may be in poor taste and not funny but I don't believe that offence was meant.

That's my twopence worth.

I am not sure that is quite correct Roxxo..
I speak from personal experience being the butt of so many age/bald/fat related jokes over the years..

I mean, even my kids took the piss outa me.. They all used different names, including swimming hat ( still laugh at that ! ) and bacon bonce ..

One of em sent an email to greenpeace a few years ago in my name and using my account

Please be aware I will be swimming off the coast of Cornwall on xxx date.
I can be recognised by my blue swimming trunks and bald head.
Please do not try and push me back into the sea. I am NOT a whale.

Now who can deny that is bloody funny ! :p !

Just thought of another example.....

Every year when we go play with the German and Italian lot they really rip the piss out the english for being too proper and stiff upper lip'd etc.. I can honestly say I have yet to even think about getting pissed off.. the remarks are funny ( and yes some are made in German or Italian but I have enough German to be able to understand at least sometimes what is being said so it is not a matter of the folks being wary of what they say.. )

Last year a crowd of em all stood behind me at the beer counter.. I gave a quizzical look and Mikey said Ahh.. it is the British way to do things.. we will queue up for everything like you !
Of course everyone was a bit merry so at the time it was really funny and everyone fell about :p

Again, how could anyone cop the hump over it ? Yes I was being stereotypes but yes, it was a bloody good and very accurate portrayal of the brit way of doing things ...

Agree Jaws.

Being a slaphead, the oldest member and leader of our shift at work, I too am the butt of baldist, ageist and any other ist jokes. It doesn't bother me at all. In fact I revel in it. As I do with my own sons.
Better than being ignored :)

Having visited numerous European bike rallies, I too have joined in with stereotypical humour and banter and enjoyed every minute.

Impersonal written posts on a forum are different though.
Having neither visual keys, prompts and gestures nor aural tones or inflections can mean offence can be taken where none is meant.

another bald speaking

All the jokes mentioned by jaws have one point diff from the initial, they do not make fun on shooting balds for fun.
for sure there is racism on that joke and if you see fun on it, you are racist even if you declare ya not.
Only hate can justify finding fun on shooting others, and if this hate comes from the etiny of the 'victim', well, racism is on the scene.

I'm going to wave the white flag for the second time on this post!!fl4g71

My view has changed here; I still (my personal opinion!!) think the joke (and I have always accepted it was meant as a joke, never said otherwise) is inappropriate and should not be posted.

However, the thread has developed in many directions and expressed many disparate views. Most of which I agree with, some of which I don't agree with. Bur I do respect them.

Surely that the whole point here?

There is a time and place. As I hinted at before, I have felt it necessary to sack an otherwise decent bloke for what he continually maintained was 'light hearted banter' toward a minority presence in the workplace. What he couldn't see was the effect it was having on his victim and, indeed, those around him who were totally fed up with it.

I know for a fact that this bloke to this day thinks he didn't do anything wrong. Very difficult and touchy area!!

Bear in mind my dear old Mum thinks being a homosexual (not me, honest!!) is an affliction; to quote her 'like being an albino' that can be cured with treatment!! Different generation.
