I guess it's kinda like the people who complain about television programmes. Your options are a) watch it and try to understand it. b) turn over, there's plenty of other channels available now, or c) turn it off and try to rekindle a conversation with the other person in the house!

Either way, our lives are full of enough grief with just trying to make the best of a bad thing. So, try to see things for what they are, some are fun and some are an excuse to have a "scream" via computer. Others may be a cry for help or attention. Whatever they are, let's all just appreciate each other and get along

Like most of the views expressed here, I do actually believe in 'free speech' and agree that political correctness is a pain in the arse in the 21st century.

My 'free speech' view is that this joke is simply too near the knuckle and likely to cause offence. I am 'white' and found it offensive so it is perhaps not reasonable for me to think that others would find it offensive as well? Perhaps the 'acid test' is what I would do if I heard one of my staff making this joke in inappropriate company? At best a massive bollocking, at worst they might be out the door.

I did infer in my original post that I am sure the intention was not to offend, but we have all (I know I have!) said or done things that have given someone the hump and I wonder whether the original poster is feeling different about the post now than when they made it?:dunno:

This has always been the problem with the rabid anti-racist pro pc brigade, they start trying to force other people to conform to their way of thinking and end up having the opposite effect.

I'm def not a racist and I actually did think that the original joke was a bit close to the knuckle, but I could take it as it was meant (a JOKE!!!).

It seems these days that as soon as there is someting that someone doesn't like they have to demand it banned, there seems to be no tolerence for other peoples views or ways of life; don't like a joke:ban it, don't like bikes:ban em, don't like 4x4's:ban em the list goes on (better ban lists)

The remark is aimed at the population in general. It seems we can have a go at whoever we want so long as their skin isn't a shade of brown. It is also my opinion that we are not allowed to speak freely anymore and even a minor criticism of someone who isn't white is liable to cost you your job and your liberty.

You won't win this argument round 'ere mate....bunch of rabid neo's as you've seen. But don't give in mate, coz you're right and they are wrong!

They can pull out that freedom of speech bull as many times as they like but it's wrong, because there is no right or priviledge in this country that allows anyone to force anyone else (in this case asians) to accept that they are inferior.
