All of you who berated that guy for riding his bike in the outside lane of the motorway are a bunch of hypocritical nannies IMO.

There are plenty of people out there who see bikers as 'mad' and even those who go so far as to say bikes should be banned, all because bikes are seen to be dangerous. Bikes are not dangerous, they don't bite. They only hurt you if YOU do something wrong, such as ride beyond your limits. Or if someone else does something wrong, which is why you should be switched on at all times to watch out.

When you don your leathers, what makes you think you aren't gonna get hurt? Why does wearing a dead cow make you go so fast through those corners/along that straight? It's all about the risk assessment that we all make that enables us to put a leg over the bike everyday.

That guy was doing, what, 70-80 down the m/way? So what? How many people do you see falling off in a straight line? As long as he's alert for cars/muppets/hazards etc he'll get home ok. When he pulled off the m/way he might've not gone above 50 the rest of the way home if that's how he risk assessed his surroundings.

Those of you who are so quick to judge are the :wank: as far as I'm concerned, get your heads out of your arses and get a job in the government so you can wrap us up nicely in some more cotton wool :bang:

Rant over, love you all really :k

The same as smokers, why the hell should they be allowed lung cancer treatment when they choose to smoke - they know the risk, its their choice, but dont expect to be treated when they are dying from it. They should waiver all rights by default when they buy coffin nails.
Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhh....... I resisted the urge to mention smoking on my last post....but as you've raised it.

Many of those now suffering from years of smoking started when it was the "accepted norm" to do so. Not smoking not that many years ago was seen as being odd or anti-social. So those good upstanding members of society duly conformed to the accepted norm in order to fit and are now dying from it.

Stuff the "accepted norm" do your own thing, make your own choices and accept the consequences.

We seem to live in an amazing blame culture where everything bad that happens must have have someone to blame - often with the benefit of hindsight. That's why we have the safety freaks trying to legislate everything fun out of existence.

I always thought humans beings had an inbuilt need for risk (differing levels for different peeps). Without an element of being is somehow missing.

What's the diffeecne between the guy in full kit doing 70+ through the twisties and the chap in jeans doing 50 on the same road. How on earht can you decide that ones at more risk than annother or that one should be denied treatment.

Think we need a philosophy forum..............

Ok lets ban the following from any surgery..

1) Obese people cos they are greedy twats

2) smokers cos we all know the dangers of smoking

3) sportsmen/women cos their injuries are self inflicted

4) crash victims as they chose to drive knowing the possible dangers

5) pedestrians cos they know that if they are walking on a pavement there is a possibility that they could trip over a loose kerb stone,

6)Mugging victims cos it's their own fault for venturing out with their mobile phones and wallets

7)alcoholics as they'll only piss up someone else's kidney

8) cancer patients as if they didn't smoke they must have lived in an industrial area, their choice

Lets just cancel our subscriptions to the NHS, and stay coccooned in our own nests, but don't watch tv as it might blow up and injure you, don't eat as the food might give you food poisoning, don't drink water as you might get the crypto spiridium bug, don't get dressed as you may fall over and hurt yourself,

Life is for living, that means doing what you want to do, we all have our own minds to make our own choices, and if i choose to do something, and you don't agree with my choice then that is fine by me, as you have a choice as to whether to agree with me or not, but If I want to go out on my BB in just a pair of shorts, I know the dangers I haven't got to my age by living a totally blinkered existence, so don't tell me I'm stupid, something that people might not realise is the only certainty in life is death, it will come to everyone of us sooner or later, and if it happens whilst I am on my BB then so be it.

This chesnut again......
Every fuckin' year it's the same.
Who gives a fuck.
Wear what you want, know the risks, make your own mind up.
Just stop acting like a bunch of nanny state wankers.

Biking is changing for the worst because were all loosing that ride free attitude. It may have not always been achievable but it was a beautiful aspiration.
Now the majority of bikes are ridden by middle aged do-gooders who think it's rude to piss when having a shower and dangerous to park a car without leaving it in gear.
We may not have big club patches on our backs or live a life totally dedicated to just two wheels and nothing or nobody else, but just start to live a little for fucks sake.
