Re last item. What you are advocating is removal of free speech. This is a minority group who's sexual orientation is - whether you like it or not - thankfully no lonher illegal. But clearly there are many individuals and parts of society who have a problem with homosexuality and therefore this is a repressed part of society. Why should they not have 'pride' and be open about their leanings? As long as it is done within the law and in good humour then what's the problem?

Still by far and away the best motor I have ever owned, including BMW, Merc and Jag. Second best was a 728i, but a Mondeo 2.5 V6 was pretty amazing despite the oval badge@tu*

In your opinion. Many people are brought up with old fashioned values & just because certain quarters of society feel it is progression to accept homosexuality does not always make it right, everybody is entitled to an opinion & should not be persecuted for it.

I am proud of my achievements but I don't have a parade bragging about them, like many I am proud of my heritage but we don't parade round the streets bragging that we're Yorkshiremen.

Only a few weeks ago we were discussing on here about a proposed march by Muslims through Wooton Bassett & the overwhelming feeling was that it should not be allowed & rightly so but in your view this is hypocrisy, it's ok to remove the freedom of expression for Muslims but not for gays.

Is it right for people to have sex with their brothers/sisters/parents? would it be ok for them to march through the streets proclaiming "We're incestuous & proud, this is what we are accept us or you're incestophobic?"

At one time, when it wasn't trendy to be gay, medical & therapy teams tried various methods of curing people of their gayness just like they are trying different methods with Paedophiles [who also claim they cannot help who they are] how long before Paedo's become accepted as normal & are allowed to have marches on Paedo day?

Derek, as far as I am aware, homosexuality is legal, but incest is not. Nor is paedophilia. This is a fundamental part of the argument - if something is legal, then it is considered acceptable by society - whether agreed with by all or not. If it is illegal, then it is not considered acceptable by society. That is the basis of the society we live in.

I am interested in the comment about 'gays' being 'cured'.
i hadn't until now realised being gay was a disease or illness. You learn something new every day.

As for Wooton Bassett, if memory serves me well was that not outlawed by plod? There is a difference between 'pride' and blatant provocation likely to end in a bloodbath. And, for the record, I did not comment on the Wooton Bassett post and i was glad that the march did not go ahead.
