Yesterday I had a phone call from BT Dundee, from a manager. She told me she would put on a new order for me to have digital phone system. and she would definitely phone me this evening.

This evening I received numerous texts and emails to tell me my new system has been activated and is up and running.

So tried calling my landline and it said doesn't exist
Received a text from the lady concerned to tell me my phone number has been changed and she is now off until Friday and will try and sort it then.

So to summarise, I can now recieve calls but no one can phone me as they don't have my number :smash2::BangHead:

FFS, you should get lifetime free internet, phone calls on a landline, £10,000 in your bank account and free worldwide holidays twice a year from a carrier of your choice as compensation, at least IMO

Well if you phone someone they will know what your number is and can let you know it.

Not unless it's a mobile or a landline that shows the number.

Did she not tell you what the new number is??? You could at least test the line until you get your number back. I've heard of this happening before. People got their no changed without asking.
Give them your list of phone numbers and ask them to ring around and tell everyone about your new number.

Why on earth did you have to have a new number, we kept our number when we switched to digital voice.

It sounds like like they switched you to fttp without phone, deleted your landline and so released your original number.

What a shower!!

It's beginning to sound like a bad script for a Carry On film. Where's Esther Rantzen when you need here..?

I know what the no is as they emailed it to me, the problem is no one else on the planet does, they say they are hopefully going to give me my old no back but I won't hold my breath

Hooefully you get your old number back but if you don’t and use iPhone you can forward your new contact details to everyone in your phone book. I know you can do that individually but I wonder if you can do the whole lot in one go? Obviously it won’t catch everyone in your world but might save you a lot of time.

I have a android phone so will have to do it one at a time, but you have to add in insurance, pension, work, banks, building society etc I'd expect to do it if I'd moved house but all I did was change where I sit on the settee

don’t give up on getting your old number back…but if that doesn’t happen hopefully BT can set up a divert on the old number?

Lord knows what you have done to deserve this.

Latest update, 29th June I received an text from BT telling me i would recieve a call between 11am and 1pm, so I've stayed in.

I have just phoned them, and was told no one is going to call me as they haven't fixed my number, apparently it's down to the worse than useless "off line team" and they may or may not have it fixed by the 9th August. I was also told that she could see on the system that a manager had looked at it this morning, I asked if I was going to get the promised call and was told no as there was no point the problem hasn't been solved

So much for the two managers who were definitely going to phone me today

sorry rant over

This really needs escalating. You'd be out of a job by now if you worked from home.

If I were you I would email BT Group's CEO the whole sorry tale.
His email is philip.jansen@bt.com.
