One of the very few good things to emerge today is the sight of parliament behaving in a way more becoming of the face of democracy in this country. I know it’s easy to get along when everyone is in agreement (other than the Labour MP for Norwich who seems to think organising an afternoon cream tea with Putin might be the answer) but it was good for once to see mutual respect instead of the usual destructive bedlam.

Also good to at long last see additional steps being taken to stop the flow of dirty money that has been raped from Russia - from personal experience I know how hard it is to spot and stop this. There are plenty of individuals around - not just Russians - who everyone knows are, how can I put it….’somewhat dubious’ that need to be bought to justice..…the owner of a certain west London football club being the most obvious example.

It will be interesting to see how the OPEC/Arab oil”producing countries react to this….no sign so far of them saying ‘we will increase output to address the shortfall caused by cutting off reliance from Russia’. If they sit on their hands and do nothing they will gain massively from this conflict. There is a brilliant opportunity for them to build bridges with the west, even more so if they offer military support.

A lot of social media twats will do anything to get likes/views etc.

Interestingly I'm active on a number of aviation forums and a couple of specialist technical aviation organisations.

Around eight weeks ago there was a noticeable increase of new members/subscribers or supposedly aviation specialists. These were predominantly either posting pro Russia stuff or in the technical organisations providing information/data which would tend to support Russia or disparage mainly UK and US aviation organisations.

There has also been quite a lot of folks who joined these groups around ten or eleven years ago but contributed little until the last few weeks. Again now suddenly very pro Russia or anti certain countries or organisations.

Some of this stuff has been really poorly worded and presented but some has been very subtle and carefully done.

Of course it's impossible to actually know which side is actually manipulating.

Coupled with the recent data and computer systems attacks in the last eight weeks or so in aviation the cyber war actually started long before the ground war!

This kind of crap isn’t helping…

I watched a clip on social media last night which showed a Soviet ground attack aircraft strafing a built up area at night. It included a Ukrainian anti-aircraft twin barrel system engaging it constantly, before finally shooting it down. The footage was grainy and just a bit too perfect, plus strafing at night is a sure fire way of getting yourself shot down.

After much pausing of the footage I was able to recognise the distinctive tail shape of an A10. I then realised that it was almost definitely cleverly edited ingame footage from a military simulator game called DCS World.

In aviation there's a move to get Boeing and Airbus to announce they will not support the aircraft they've already sold to Russian airlines. In recent years Aeroflot etc have been buying western aircraft rather than home built.

However, there is a viewpoint being expressed that such action would push Russia more towards China.

Via an aviation source !!!

Yesterday Russia hit a Turkish ship with missile/shell and today a Romanian ship - a NATO member since (I think around 94)

Shows how easy it might be for NATO to get drawn in, if an attack like that is considered an attack on NATO

Edited to add it's now being said the ship is Moldavian

Just watched ‘Rise of The Nazis: Dictators at War’ series 2 episode 2 which focussed on the Nazi invasion of Russia.

Staggeringly similar to what is going on at the moment, the summing up at the end by the ex top man in the UK army was chilling but also reassuring ….in that dictators will never come out on top as their egos are too big and they will not listen to anyone who has bad news. They are also useless at military tactics but think they are great at it.

The more I think about what is going on the more 8 think Putin may well be toppled from within. I hope I am right.

Russia have been hit with the biggest possible sanction so we expect their imminent surrender, they’re banned from the Eurovision song contest.

It might sound daft but if the sanctions are to achieve anything then it needs to be total.
Including the cancellation of all Russian visas end expelling them.

Messing about arguing that music or sport or stamp collecting shouldn't count just muddies the waters.

Everything and anything connected with Russia brought to a halt.

The following has been issued to the staff of an aviation company::

"No operation is permitted in or over Russian territory until no earlier than 24 FEB 2032.
No Russian person, or passport holder shall be carried on a company aircraft until 24 FEB 2032.
No Russian official or diplomat may be carried on a MEDEVAC anywhere in the world until 24 FEB 2052.

The company shall not assist or accept any operation or tasking or any commercial contact with any country that does not cease commercial activities with Russian due to their naked and illegal aggression of a neighboring country. Such ban on 3rd party countries shall remain in force until 24 FEB 2052."

I'm told that Belarus is included.
