Can anyone tell me if a BT57 is OK on the front of a bird with an 020 on the back?

Is this a good combination, or will it lead to problems?

just askin cos I need know.

Not looking for smart ass comments, need genuine data/fact please. :h

Wolfie

Is a lunp
The 57 came as standard on the first birds, but they had to be the right ones. can not remeber how they were marked, do a search on here for a bridgestone thread posted by samster, think it was mentioned on there.

Cheers for that Wolfie.

I ask because I have just found out I have a BT57 on the front and an 020 on the back (I dont at this time know the specific suffex). Twice I have been to the Matlock meet in the pouring rain, and last night the bike was sliding all over the place. Especially crossing the white line. Real colon exercise riding. I did not feel confident at all last night in the bends.

I was just wondering if this differant type of fitmant had anything to do with it, or is it just my crap riding. I have about 1.75 mm on the BT57 front. The back has loads of meat left. I do however have the 020 front that Mickyb999 kindly donated that has a good 3mm of tread on it.

Can't find anyone saying the BT57's have any problems, so just wondering. :h

Was it the front moving or the back stepping out?

I have found BT57's to be excellent wet and dry, they are still supplied on new Birds.

I always thought combination of different tyre types to be a weird thing - if the manufacturer matched front and rear specific types it must be for a good reason. Another thing worth checking is wheel alignment - it sounds as if you could do with a trip to the workshop to have it properly aligned (as in, not with the Honda marking which can be as much as 5mm off but with a laser) - and Gyppo, thanks for avoiding my arse, not really into rearending as previously said man8um

Clive, I tried to but you're right, we should be more specific, so here's my advice: go steal money somewhere, bin the fuckers, fit the Avons ST45/46, get your wheels aligned and be happy - how's that? :dunno:

Tyre trouble

Is it the TYRES causing the problem :dunno: ..
A lot of the keeping up on Friday is to do with making progress not outright speed.
To have a car hold up an 1100cc superbike on roads like the A6 is just un heard of. My road rules are NEVER EVER cross the solid white line and don't sit behind other vehicles in traffic if you can safely filter through. I like to get gone and ride for ME not car drivers, i would say 99% of my overtake moves were the sort of moves a CB500 could make which leaves me with more to play with should things change suddenly. The only time i lost you is when i passed a car or 5 and you hung back until they parked up or ran out of fuel........you need to be more assertive in overtaking and chill out. I'm not in a rush to go anywhere but if your gonna sit behind cars then you may as well be in one, dry with a radio on.
I'm not having a dig but thats just the way i was taught and the way i am.
Next time we go stay with me and i won't overtake unless there is ample room for both of us and see the difference.

Sounds like a bit of advanced training needed for the lot %$fan

Do tyres make you lot hang back or is it a lack of a deathwish.

The rules always were, if you lead you make allowences for the rest and the last man has to be twice as quick than the rest to keep up.
LOOK out here comes the FLAK.
