Really greedy bastids are...

my TV uses 4 watts on standby, which is sweet FA. I have a couple of rechargers on full time for plugging in the MacBooks, they draw around 12w even when charging. Most of the wasted juice goes on fridges, forget the odd standard bulb here and there, get the fridges turned down for real savings, along with boiling small amounts of water rather than a full kettle ......

Electric shower, washing machine and tumble dryer!

I have cunningly got all the AV stuff hooked up t the same powerpoint so one flick of the switch turns everything off except Sky +

I understand that a lot of this stuff uses nearly as much juice on standby as when being used.:dunno:

Sky+ is one of those devices that is known to use exactly the same amount of power on standby as when "on". My Foxsat HDR actually powers-down to a meagre level and wakes up prior to scheduled recordings.

Steve - all B&O will say is the following, which is still a little ambiguous:

"With the DVB-HD Module you can receive digital signals either terrestrial (DVB-T) or from cable (DVB-C). The DVB-HD Module can receive both MPEG4/2 in High Definition (HD) and Standard Definition (SD)"

I believe that DVB-T2 (Freeview HD) will be MPEG4 so looks promising

Will keep you posted

Cheers Samster. I'm hoping to speak to my local dealer very soon and will also keep YOU informed if I learn anything.

Steve - got a friend to contact somebody in B&O's technical team. Unfortunately it appears as I originally thought mate, that DVB-HD module won't play with FreeviewHD in the UK when it launches due to the UK deciding to do things differently to the rest of the developed world

"We can inform you that the DVB-HD module can only handle Freeview HD until the point at which they send it in DVB-T2 format.
The DVB-HD module cannot handle DVB-T2 format yet, but we are working on a solution. We do not know when an update is ready"

Kind regards,
Bang & Olufsen a/s

Worth quoting this to your dealer and mentioning the above persons name

Well, mine is sorted out.
Comet engineer decided the screen was at fault.. Wanted to take the telly away for 6 to 8 weeks to get it fixed.

After a bit of argybargy someone at Comet took an excutive decision and decided to simply right my one off !
Then it turned out there were no more but I could choose another ( more expensive of course  ) television

Ended up with the Samsung 50" plasma
It aint fantastic as it is only 100hz and not 1028 but it is plenty good enough for me and has been performing excellently with all tests I have so far thrown at it.

Cheers Sammy. I've still got faith in them for an upgrade which I shall of course attempt to get for free as the salesman said it would receive hd broadcasts. I have copied your comments into an email and have sent it to my local shop to see what they have to say.
