The Prisoner was a (Early 70's) tv series with Patrick McGoohan. After being drugged and kidnapped in London he awoke in this weird , slightly futuristic world from where you could not escape. The only possible way out was via a beach, but then a big wobbly white balloon came and squashed you. In this place names were not recognised, and you were given a number (Mc Goohan was number six)

Unhappy about this McGoohan used to shout "I AM NOT A NUMBER - I AM A FREE MAN!"

Turned out it was all filmed at Port Merion, in Wales.

ahhh yes r2! i remember the program but never really watched it (im 41) thats my age not my number:dunno: :} so the 70's isnt to much of a mystery to me, i must have been too busy playing on my space hopper to notice it:yo:

I am free to do so now if I want to, there is absolutely nothing that could prevent me from doing it right now IF I wanted to, yes there is a good chance a neighbour would have a nasty shock, and yes there is a possibility that I would be arrested, but these would be after the act, the deed would have already been done and I would have expressed my freedom.

That would not be freedom that would be rebellion. After they locked you up in your own jail would not be able to do it again. Freedom means the ability to choose to do it with out fear!! :neenaw:

In a normal person they would fear the consequences irrespective of what they say, therefore they are not free.

But people are prisoners of their own fears, I have heard people say they would love to have a go at parachuting, bungee jumping, white water rafting etc but won't because they are scared, overcome your fears and you are free.
