If your normal MO was to lock your cat out for days while you went away then, yes, as far as I am concerned that IS cruelty.
If someone is not going to take full responsibllity for their pets care then don't have one.
‘If your normal MO was to lock your cat out for days…’

Where has that come from? Go back and read. You really are taking my comments and twisting them into something they never were, no doubt being encouraged by my personal troll who will probably have taken the opportunity to stick the boot in.

I don’t mind taking a bit of stick on here but I’m not taking being cruel to animals in any shape or form.

I do not think any cruelty of any sort happened. Cats prefer ( in general ) to roam free and will always find a suitable place for themselves

Thought that this thread was meant to be about hobbies..
Agreed, keeping fucking cats out of your garden eventually becomes a full time job not a hobby ...... gathering up all the shit and firing at the cat owners is a hobby (y)

I often shit in other people’s gardens and blame the local cats.

When using App, keep on a level surface at all times to ensure no overspill.
Do not allow any breed of felis catus to
take a giant dump on your phone unless
accompanied with a bucket of sand.
Any further instructions required?
Then please contact Andreas Bleaker

I went back and read your earlier post...

"That’s the biggest downside to me - with cats you can boot them out for a couple of days if you go away or, more importantly , need to go somewhere at short notice."

Either you're stating your normal procedure for what you did with the cat when you went away.....or you just chucked that comment in for effect. :watchout:

Ok, let’s put this to bed.

  1. Going away overnight (ie ‘a couple of days), leaving cat out with neighbours feeding
  2. a real example….daughter in law went in to labour five weeks early and had a tiny boy who was in ICU with really bad jaundice and some other ‘premature’ issues.. Son obviously wanted to stay in hospital with her but had eighteen month old son to worry about…….we ‘dropped everything’, booted (metaphorically) cat out, arranged for neighbours to feed, and rushed over to look after grandson. I came back the following day and took George to Cattery as we had no idea how long we would be away. The point being that you couldn’t do that with a dog.
If you think either of those is cruel then we have different definitions. which is fine, as long as my words haven’t been twisted and, I suspect, comments about others (there was something about someone going away for a long period and leaving a cat to fend for itself…eff all to do with me) thrown into the ‘Beaker is cruel’ feeding frenzy.

slim63 ogr1 derek kelly sr71caspar please note - as you ‘liked Cougars post where I was charged with cruelty. If you think the above is ‘cruel’ then fine.

With thanks to the two people who have removed their ‘likes’ from Cougar’s post. (y)

So as I see it you threw that comment in to see what reaction you got.

I'm beginning to understand why you exasperate some people on here.

How?

You are seeing something that isn’t there.

I‘m all for a bit of banter but accusing me of cruelty is bang out of order.

Do you really think I am cruel to animals?

I have two options....

1) Take your initial "with cats you can boot them out for a couple of days" comment on face value - in which case (in my opinion) yes, you were being cruel.

2) Take your later "Ok, let’s put this to bed" comment at face value - in which case your initial comment about kicking the cat out for a few days was a verbal hand grenade.

Either one suits me as both pissed me off.

You've had my retort, so feel free to have the last word.

Cats sometimes disappear for a few days (usually off shagging) frantic owners place posters around & post on social media, cats are largely independent & have no sense of how long they’ve been away, to them several days may seem reasonable so imagine how they feel if they come home & are locked out, their people are not there.
In 1988 we went to Spain for two weeks, we put Sabre our GSD & Benny our tabby cat into the same kennels, we took comfort that they’d be together.
When we returned Sabre went bonkers jumping up & licking faces, Benny ignored us, two days after getting home Bev was walking to the kitchen & Benny ran & whacked her legs, it was a good week before he was back to normal

Looking at some stuff on net, there are a few very cruel dog owners and indeed cat owners.
