Looking for some input

I might go through the forum sections and remove some that do not get used...
But I am thinking of adding one

If you are in a trade and willing to help folk either with advice or even physically with a skill or knowledge you can post in there
Those skills must be offered FOC as it is not be a free for all business opportunity

It will not be a place for discussions and folk needing help would contact the OP by PM ( or maybe not.. suck it and see at this stage )

What does the panel think of the basic idea ?

Its a good idea John, I have seen it done on other forums & it seems to work ok as long as traders abide by whatever rules are in place

Wouldn't that be covered by the need help section John?

Yes and no
In the help sections they are open to anyone with an opinion to reply
The idea would be a section where you post a specific skill that you are either qualified to work at or have worked at
For instance, say someone is a watch repairer
They post that fact.. No one but the original poster may reply to a help request

What I am after is to make a place that is pretty much 100% reliable and not just full of opinions many of which are usually based on very limited personal experience
An example might be ( using the watch repairer example ) someone wanting info on how to clean a pocket watch
Now my dad always did it the same.. suspend the watch gubbins a few mm over a jam jar lid filled with either raw alcohol or lighter fluid
It seemed to work for him but it is based on a one off personal experience and almost certainly is NOT how a proper time served watch tech would do the job !

And are you going to post your skill as 'being obsessed about Beaker'?

Just wondering.

Are you going to post your skills as:

- Making assertions with no grounds upon which to back them up;

- Repeatedly ignoring requests to justify your (spurious) claims;

- Avoiding providing straight answers;

- Accusing others of having your 'traits'?

Just to name a few.
