Didn't know what one was so had a shufty to see it it would be suitable for my little garage.
So, from what I can make out, it burns diesel which heats a heatsink and air is blown across it, my question, if I'm right, what happens to the fumes man, I can see rainbows, lots of them, all shimmery, and there's a unicorn.....?
Answer in edited version above :)

Looks like they come with an exhaust to vent outside via whatever means

I haven't bought anything but Mrs P has done the weekly shop; ordered split face tiles for one of the kitchen walls and a new fire place for the sitting room.

You have a combustion chamber and a hot air chamber. they are totally seperate.
The diesel fumes go out the exhaust pipe, so you put that through a hole in the wall thereby keeping all the smells and nasties out side
I fitted one to our motorhome last year and was WELL pleased.. In fact the only real problem is we can only keep it on for a limited time as it gets too warm ( the space it is heating is about 28ft x 7ft wide )

Forgot to say..l they will run off almost anything !
Diesel . white or red, cooking oil ( though after trying it we will not be using it again cos it is dearer than red around hear ) and my favorite, heating oil
In the three months it was used last winter, it got through a bit under 4 gallons of juice

A battery 'conditioner' for the car as I am getting frequent 'battery low' messages due to lack of use. A lot of non-essential stuff shuts down when the charge is low....including the automatic locking as you walk away from the car...quite disconcerting to come back to it to find it has been unlocked.

In my day they were called battery chargers and cost about £3.

here are some pictures of the installed heater in the van
The kits come with everything you will need including a 10 litre fuel tank
I did get an extender for the 'zorst as I wanted to to end further away than the standard one allowed

And underneath the heater
The black pipe is the combustion air intake, the silver is the exhaust .. comes out the bottom of the unit and then exits the locker to right under the van
The diesel is fed through the small tube via a filter and pump into the bottom of the unit

I have the fuel tank mounted in a locker in the van
In the workshop It will be wall mounted.
It can be 3 or 4 yards from the heater, or 3 or 4 inches :)

A couple of picture clearly showing how efficient it is. Note the start time , inside and outside temperature

Interesting..
Any pollution rules on how high/length of the exhaust should be if installed in a
garage? Does it have or need a flue?
Just asking loike.

Considering you can buy free standing heaters for big spaces that just burn diesel and exhaust straight out the front I suspect not
Remember, this is diesel not petrol you are burning.. Just so long as it exits out side you are already in front of the game compared to a lot of diesel heater installs

All those below just pump all the zorst straight out the front !

They are pretty pathetic for heating a workshop Andy.. To get the benefit it needs to be turned on hours before you intend going out there.. The diesel heater option is cheap to run and REALLY slings the heat out.. Because it is a blown air system it warms up a big space quickly and efficiently
The ones I use are 5kw and cost about 14p an hour to run

I've a spare electric greenhouse heater which I tried in the garage. Didn't expect it to make much difference as it's a double garage. I'd have been better off with a nice hot cuppa placed in the middle of the workbench.

Will be looking for something a bit more substantial in the new year.

He'd rather buy a motorcycle than anything diesel powered.

I have always found a small fan heater decent enough for warming a garage when needed.

Have a 2kw oil filled radiator, but these things only heat about a foot radius and is pretty useless in a garage.
I'm going to source a solar panel heating system.

10x12 insulated shed with big doors that are quite draughty & a small fan heater gets it warm quick & keeps it that way up to the point i sometimes have to turn it off

Went with son to buy some nibbles and booze etc for over Christmas.
At the till the woman says "someone's having a good Christmas".
I responded with "you can guess who's picked this lot", nodding towards son.
Till lady says "I can guess who's paying though", looking at me as I pack the bags.
Quick as a flash son says "I'm like royalty, I don't carry cash".
Even quicker response from the till lady as she turns back to me "keep packing peasant".
