Rick448, I'm with you on this. Indeed, I would take it further - why the need to swear at all anywhere in the thread.

But you have to understand that there are people out there who cannot communicate without swearing due to limited intellect.

I'm sure there was a point in time when the forum would replace user's profanities with a default word

Personally the swearing doesn't bother me in the slightest. If you don't like it them mod

It is a myth that swearing is due to lack of intelligence or poor vocabulary, it can be used to emphasise a point, it can also be used to replace that anoying non word "er" that many people use whilst thinking what to say.
I visit some sites where swearing of any kind is a big no no & anyone using foul language is banned, these sites although informative & a definite must for my needs (not sexual :-0)) are quite boring & arguments lack expression.

Fair enough. It was just a question. I'm certainly not offended by it but it seems this forum is dominated by a handfull of people who do what they like but are quick to jump on others. I guess it's just the normal forum post count hierarchy.

How about introducing an 'only sponsors can swear' rule.

That will reduce the numbers by about 95%.

Swearing in speech or displayed in writing does not offend me but there is certainly a time and a place for the use of such language. One such place is in front of my Mum and another when in public where the use of such language might be heard by other people. I've been educated by the University of Life and can swear as much as any other person. I know what can offend and I know when and where such language can be used without offending others, or equally when to use the language to offend! My wife is very well spoken, has a whole of degrees and other educational qualifications and she too can swear. It's not uncommon for her to call me a "c*nt"! Is she uncouth? No, far from it. Am I offended? No, not in the least but it does make me laugh....and that is the most important thing. As she says, it's just another word.
Is there a need for swearing on a forum? Let's not get too het up about it...

the forum is made up of different people, some swear some don't, its all those diferent people that keep it going and if you do not like the forum then my advice would be fook off somewhere else @tu*

It's because this forum is an open forum one where you can say what you like be yourself that I believe its kept going and been so popular, without all these different peeps it would be as mundane as all the others, but hey if that floats your boat go for it, just dont try and give me rules or morals i've got my own thanks and aint changing for nobody.
